What Now?

What Now?

The long awaited day of merry making, overeating and gift exchanging is faded into the past never to return. Toys aplenty lie scattered about as little ones attempt to decide which to attack next. Gifts are neatly stored away by adults to be used ant some future date. The excitement of Christmas is ebbing away. In its place a silent “what now” plays on stressed minds filled with empty anxiety and energy burst’s collapse. Some turn to Christ with thanks and reference. Many simply drift between escape of self affiliation and panic. There is a numbness for those who do not know the real gift of Christmas and honor Him with praise and worship. It was so at his parting and His return will be forever and glorious beyond imagination. We Christians look for that great day of the Lord.

Jesus walked the earth in his time just as we do in ours. He proved himself worthy. He died a sacrificial death and His followers ask “what now.”

Matthew 26:31 “Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

Matthew 26:56 “Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me. 56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled. (58) But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.”

Matthew 27:27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. (35) “And they crucified him,”

Luke 24:10 “It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. 11 And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. 12 Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.”

Luke 26:13 “And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus,... 14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened. (Mark 16:14) Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat,...”

Luke 24:36And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?” Know God, know peace, Amen. 12/27/20 BLL
