We hill folks have suffered under a battering of degradation. Not in fact but in verbal slurs. We have been and are sometimes referred to as “hillbillies.” This designation is most often used as an insult and racial slur against folks who live in the hill country. Hillbillies are a people who live in a remote, rural area in the south, most often in the Appalachian Mountains and therefore are isolated and somewhat out of touch with modern culture. However, some of our richest are mountain situated.

Now we al know that money don’t make the man. Certainly there are impoverished areas in the mountain regions just as there are all over the globe. don’t judge hillbillies by the horse they ride, the tobacco they chew or the clothes they wear. Just enjoy their mountain dialect as they bring Gods message to a backwoods people.
