PERILOUS
TIMES are TRYING TIMES
2
Timothy 3:1 “This
know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2
For
men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3
Without
natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4
Traitors,
heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
1
Peter 1:17
“And
if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth
according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here
in fear: 18
Forasmuch
as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as
silver and gold, from your vain conversation received
by tradition from your fathers; 19
But
with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and
without spot: 20
Who
verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was
manifest in these last times for you,
21
Who
by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave
him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 22
Seeing
ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit
unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see
that ye
love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23
Being
born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the
word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
Through
the word of God we are repeatedly
of
the rise of dangerous enemies to the gospel. Paul
knew; having
spoken directly with the risen Christ, things. Here in this verse, he
passes some on to Timothy. And
exhorts him to continue in the doctrine he had learned from the Holy
Scriptures. Even in times long
gone there
would be perilous times in
the Christian community. As in today’s era there were reports
of persecution from without, still more because
of corruptions within. Men dedicated
to gratifying
their own lusts, more than to please God and do their God
signed work. Angry
men,
eager for what they
can get, and anxious to keep what they
have,
make them
dangerous to one another. When men do not fear God, they will not
respect
others.
We
are witnessing, in our time, things that were taught to surly come
near the end times. We observe many children
who
are
disobedient to their parents even
unto taking of their lives. Such
makes the times perilous. Many
men are
unholy and without the fear of God. They
respect not
the mercies of God. We witness
God's gifts trampled
in the mire being made
the food and fuel of lusts. Times are perilous also, when parents are
without natural affection to children. Many
are killing their unborn. Others are tossing them aside at birth like
so much garbage. Some are kept to their detriment. Some survive. And
when men have no rule over their own bodies
and desire wickedness above that which
is good and to be sought,
those
times spoken of in revelation are near. God
is to be loved above all; but a carnal mind, full of enmity against
Him,
prefers things
before him, especially carnal pleasure. A form of godliness is very
different from the true
power.
From
those
who are
found to be hypocrites, real Christians must withdraw. Such persons
frequent
the
church, and have in all times and locations, They
are predictors seeking self gratification by tempting God. You must
not tempt God.
It
is imperative that we fully
know the doctrine of Christ, as taught by the apostles; keep
it.
A form of godliness, a profession of Christian faith without a godly
life, fails
the test of Godliness.
Open
profession of the truth as it is in Jesus, living
in
godliness, will
stir
up the scorn and enmity of the world. We
witness
good men, by the grace of God growing
better. In
the same moment, we
see
bad men, through the craft of Satan, and the power of their own
corruptions, wax
worse. The way of sin accumulates
sin. Such
sinners
go
from bad to worse by
deceiving and being deceived. We
well know that those
who deceive others, deceive also
themselves. Their
reward is had.
These
writings are true. They are not of man but writers were
moved by the Holy Ghost. Know
God, know peace. Amen. 04-05-2020 BLL
