In The Crowd

IN THE CROWD

There seems to always be a crowd. Some have a cause, none seem to achieve their purpose. It was so when Jesus walked the earth and it will be so until ‘He who lets’ is removed at the taking of the church. All holds are bared at that crucial turn of standards. In every crowd there are a few there for the gawking. Some for the ‘cause’ and some overtaken in mob violence. There is no common ground when fools come out to protest.
Satan loves a crowd heated unto violence. He nudges his imps into full power and action. Things happen that are not good and far from the “intended” outcome. Sometime thare are one or two who see the error of the approach to the situation at hand but either in wisdom , doubt or fear, take no action,
Jesus stood many times before the crowd of Pharisees who cast aspersions and slight of thought to trap Him. Yet, only in the garden of Gethsemane did one (Peter) raise a voice or hand in His defense. Some stood in the crowd for what physical help He could give. Some believed others only hoped. Faith grew, if it grew, by sight of others who believed receiving their healing. Often no thanks were given. Always there were those among the crowd who came to belittle Jesus and his ministry. Sometimes the crowd contained those called dogs. They came because they believed Jesus could minister to their needs id only He would. Some gathered to receive the spiritual baptism offered by Jesus and to become part of his army against Roman oppression.
For what do we gather in the face of COVID-19? There are various mostly self serving, causes. For ever cause there in an opposite and believed more appropriate opinion. Some participants are willing to die for the cause. Others, there for the show, flee at the first word of opposition. Some take on “the cause” as a life long struggle to right whatever wrong they believe to be ensuing. Always there is a crowd. Whether gathered in homes connected with the media or in secret ‘upper’ rooms they huddle and whisper their threats. Neither is society’s elite exempt. They also have like components in their group. The high and mighty, rich or poor, wise of common standing out or hunkered in, all appear and think to change the course of events. In every instance, there is one. One who knows the worth of calm, collected and directed participation. Knowing God increases the value of such peacemaker. Know God, know pace. Amen. 04-14-2020 BLL.
