Troubled Waters
TROUBLED
WATERS
Psalms 46: 1 (To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth.) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. 4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. 6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
We
are experiencing what appears to be troubled times. The world is at
battle against an identified foe without knowledge to combat it. The
symptoms are well learned and the protein and its lipids well
defined. Yet, few stop to apply God’s word to such troubled waters.
- Psalms 90:7 “For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.”
- 2 Corinthians 4:8 “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;”
- John 5: 1 “After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.”
An
old saying; “cleanliness is next to godliness” might be applied
here.. Who knows the mind of God or can unravel His complicated plan?
Are we in troubled water leading to the coming of the Lord? Who can
say, only God knows the day and hour of His arrival. However we take
precautions against the pestilence at hand and
consider the signs of the time. Today we see a copy from the past.
Leviticus
15: 8 ”And
if he that hath the issue spit upon him that is clean; then he shall
wash his clothes, and bathe himself
in water, and be unclean until the even. 9
And
what saddle soever he rideth upon that hath the issue shall be
unclean. 10
And
whosoever toucheth any thing that was under him shall be unclean
until the even: and he that beareth any
of
those things shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself
in water, and be unclean until the even. 11
And
whomsoever he toucheth that hath the issue, and hath not rinsed his
hands in water, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself
in water, and be unclean until the even.
12
And
the vessel of earth, that he toucheth which hath the issue, shall be
broken: and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water. 13
And
when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall
number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes,
and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.
Sounds
so applicable to the cautions being taken today. Jesus walks the dark
hills. He sees the dark valleys. He is faithful to keep us if we turn
from the ensuing storm and focus our eyes upon Him only. We have this
example of troubled waters.
Matthew 14: 25
”Ad
in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the
sea. 26
And
when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled,
saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27
But
straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I;
be not afraid. 28
And
Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto
thee on the water.
29
And
he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he
walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30
But
when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to
sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31
And
immediately Jesus stretched forth his
hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith,
wherefore didst thou doubt?
Luke
8: 22
“Now
it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his
disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side
of the lake. And they launched forth. 23
But
as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on
the lake; and they were filled with
water,
and were in jeopardy. 24
And
they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish.
Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and
they ceased, and there was a calm. 25
And
he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid
wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he
commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. 1
John 5:6 “This
is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water
only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth
witness, because the Spirit is truth.” John
19:34 “But
one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came
there out blood and water.” Thus
it is written and thus it is recorded. We have a Savior to turn to in
our times of distress.
- Revelation 21:6 “And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
- Revelation 22:1 “And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
- Revelation 22:17 “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
- We are not yet given to a curse of death. Know God, know peace. Amen. 04-02-2020 BLL
