Reach Out
REACH
OUT
An
old hermit sat praying. Humped by age and decay, he further bent his
withered back before God. He mumbled with a voice certain that God
was listening while in his heart he wondered if it were so. Lacking
many of the distractions enjoyed by contemporary society, he was
quiet alone and “shut in” by his circumstances. Cancer, sneaking
ever closer to his vital organs, kept him constantly aware of his
vulnerabilities. Chemicals fought the invasion of cruel calls but
their power was as much turned toward him as the invader. He was a
child of the King; constant companion with the Lord Jesus. He was not
Job. He was not the Rock. He was a simple pilgrim trudging toward a
God he knew was reachable. Even in his infirmities, he rejoiced. He
reached out and touched God and his soul was renewed daily. Thank you
Lord for another day of life!
When we reach out and touch
the heart of God, the shock shatters doubt, fear, anxiety and all
maladies of the world around us. He is real!
1 John 1:1 “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. (Hebrews 4:14) “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
A gift of God to His son and protected by the Holy Spirit, we need fear no evil neither be afraid. (John 10:29) “My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.” (John 10:28) “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (Matthew 8:17) “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.” (Romans 8:26) “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 15:1) “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.”
- There has descended a tough virus upon the world today. Whether by natural process or the hand and intervention of God, we do not know. We open the bowels of our compassion and pray. Our God shines in troubled times! Know God, know peace. Amen. 04-06-2020 BLL
