Selfishness
SELFISHNESS
EPHESIANS
FOUR
26
“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath
28
Let him that stole st27 Neither give place to the devil.eal no more:
but rather let him labour, working with his
hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that
needeth.
29
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that
which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto
the hearers.
31
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil
speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.”
Seems
some folks strive to have and do not have. Some, as well, strives not
and have not. There are those who labor and take gain unto themselves
and store it away never understanding the concept “enough is
enough” and they
share
nothing. God’s
people are those who sees their fellow humans in need and shares
according to their ability with those in need. The indwelling of the
Holy Spirit humbles and soften hearts. It destroys selfishness and
self centered attitudes. These Children of God are the meek in spirit
who will inherit the earth and all its riches. Romans
13:1-14
“Let
every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power
but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” Those
are His children.
God,
speaking as Jesus, squarly placed the price, if it can be called
that, of serving Him. Mark
12:
29
“And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is,
Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love
the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with
all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is
the first commandment. 31 And the second is
like, namely
this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other
commandment greater than these.”
Think
long and hard on that concept and order from the mouth of God. Loving
family members in need draws out a semblance of this command. We
Christians will cut our budget to the bone to satisfy their needs.
Most people love themselves (rather their substance) more than their
kin folks.
Strangers
in need...forget it. Bowls of compassion as to finances slam shut.
That is not what God expects of His. Matthew
5:42 “Give
to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn
not thou away.”15
“If
a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye
warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things
which are needful to the body; what doth
it
profit?”
We have the example of the battered traveler and the good Samaritan
as a guide. Drifting along with blinders on and believing that not
seeing clears all with God is not an acceptable solution. We are to
look and act. We are in a day when family dont even respect family.
What’s in it for me. I want it now. Are phrases identifying this
generation. The time of sorrow is near. Mark
13:12 “Now
the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the
son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall
cause them to be put to death.”
- 1 Corinthians 6:6 “But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.” Matthew 10:21 “And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.”
The
difference in “lost and found” often hides in the pocket book.
Our Lord would have us display a free heart; willing to share His
blessings. If we truly love Him we will feed His sheep. Fear not the
evil doers.
Know God, know peace. Amen. 02-02-2020 BLL
