Foxes

FOXES

Luke 9 57 “And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 58 “And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.”

Some think that walking beside the Lord will bring riches, social status and exemption from trials and tribulation. By the working of their mouth, they tag along with this clique or another. They form church work groups attend church functions. They are shiftless and seek support from the true worshipers as they are working for the Lord. Their focus is warped. Christians are “not in it for the income rather for the outcome’ of their labor in following God “whithersoever” He leads. Believing upon Christ and his sacrificial death on the cross for remission of sin is the beginning of a true walk. Conversion from darkness unto light is the starting shot that begins the walk. Serving Christ with the mind while the heart sleeps is fruitless. Intention’s and commitment is everything. That accepts the promise of everlasting life. However, nonchalantly walking among God’s people as they labor in the field without conversion, gives no special privileges and the end there of is eternal death. Jesus spoke it clearly that day while answering this man’s promise of following along with Him and His followers.
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Needs and wants to glare brightly before our face while the seeking face of God tarries patiently in the ripened field. However His love will not always tarry with idleness nor with refusal to respond to the call of God. One goat among the sheep will entice others to join and the Holy Spirit must give way to their corrupting invasion. Nehemiah 4:3 “Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.” Churches fall, not from invasions attacking from without but from corruption from within.
Corruption in Sampson’s family is an example of what disorder within groups can produce. Hampson and his wife had separated because of strife. Sampson left for a time. He returned intending to rejoin the group. He was denied by her father. His wife had gone to another. Judges 15: 3 “And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure. 4 And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails. 5 And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives. “...And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire. 7And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.” The vine has been cut at the root and must be refreshed. Ceasing anger against some thing or someone that turned you away from “your first love” is not always accepted. Song of Solomon 2:15 “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.” The rebuilding of a fractured work of God is fragile. Those (foxes) who corrupted and destroyed the field if harvest, linger still and gnaw at the edges of reconstruction where new converts have entered.
Those who deface the reputation of God are as foxes that disrupts the vine. When John Baptist was beheaded and the disciples brought the news to Jesus, He remarked: Luke 13:32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.” I would not want to be a fox on the day Jesus comes to perfect His bride. Herod probably never knew the magnitude of the beheading in God’s eyes. He no doubt is getting His reward. There are no foxes in heaven.
Lamentations 5:18 “Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it. Ezekiel 13:4 “O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.” A lam is more profitable to God. Be a little sheep. Know God, know peace. Amen 02-01-2020 BLL
