Day Star
DAY
STAR
- 2 Peter 1:19 “16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. 19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
-
- Romans 1:16 “6 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:
as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans
1: 21
"Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him
not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their
imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”
- Our wretched state, by sin, is revealed unto us by the law. That is the extent of the law. Showing our hearts dark with sin, the law just sits a bystander and silent charger. It discovers and reveals our sickness. It offers no solution for overcoming darkness in our heart.
-
- It is the knowledge of Jesus’ sacrificial crucifixion, as described in the gospel, that heals a sin darkened soul. Try to dissuade the covetous sin satisfied from their greediness and you will experience sin’s claw marks. The price of just one ounce of gold will dissuade all reasons. Offer to stay a furious man from anger by arguments, he has not patience to hear them. Try to detain the licentious, one smile is stronger with him than all reason. But come with the gospel, and urge them with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, shed to save their souls from hell, and to satisfy their sin debts, and this is that powerful pleading which makes good people of the world confess that their hearts burn within them, and bad men, even King Agrippa, to whom Paul witnessed, say they are almost persuaded to be Christians (Ac 26:28). “Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.”
- How firm and sure should our faith be? We have a time tested and tried, firm and sure word to rest upon! When the light of the Scripture invades a sin blinded mind having dark understanding, the Holy Spirit of God appears like the day-break that advances, and diffuses itself through the whole soul. It makes perfect the light of day. As the Scripture is the revelation of the mind and will of God, every man ought to search it, with a Spirit filled mind determination to understand its sense and meaning. The Christian knows bible to be the word of God, in which he tastes a sweetness, and feels a power, and sees a glory, truly divine. Along with the prophecies already fulfilled in the person and salvation of Christ, and in the great concerns of the church and the world, form an unanswerable proof of the truth of Christianity. The Scriptures are to be accounted the words of the Holy Ghost, and all the plainness and simplicity, all the power and all the propriety of the words and expressions, come from God. Thus we know that the light shines in the darkness and the darkness comprehends it not. God created the sun as a light to light the day. It is a star. When light appears all darkness fades away. Our Lord, Holy Ghost comforter, arises in our heart and brightens the soul as does the “day star’ our world. We look to the Son for our life light and we share it with those still in darkness. Know God, know peace. Amen. 02-23-2020 BLL
