Grow in Christ
Grow
in Christ
Hebrews
Chapter Six
1
Therefore
leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto
perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead
works, and of faith toward God,
2
Of
the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of
resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
This
morning our Lord brings us to a discussion of a truth that is
stalling growth in our worship services. Through Paul’s guiding
dissertation to the Christian Hebrew children of God, we get the
admonition of stale worship. We, as the Hebrew were, are urged to go
forward in the doctrine given us by Christ. Failure to put forth the
full gospel of God is paramount to falling into a state of
agnosticism. We can easily become a believing but apostate worshiping
group. The consequences of apostasy, or turning back, are described
further on in this chapter. But, for today, we must consider our
method of “church” building… shepherding. Many were on track,
some were not. Some are on track, many are not. God expresses
satisfaction, as to the workers in the field, for the most part. But,
He has ought with the UN-witted repetition of the message that
brought the children to a knowledge of the truth then stalled.
Rather, let me say, became locked in low gear repeating forever the
basics of Christ’s message of seeking conversion, and fail to feed
the flock.
The
apostle encourages them to grow in faith and holiness; to build on
the foundation of means to repentance and soar upward to become
mighty people of wondrous knowledge and great works.
I
compare faltering church groups today to a car stuck in the mud. The
driver pours buckets of water beneath the spinning wheels to move it
out of the mud; won’t work! Gravel and sand are needed. Stuck in
the mud parishioners need the gravel of the whole truth of God thrown
beneath their spinning minds. Every part of the truth and will of God
must be set before all who profess the gospel, and be branded on
their hearts and consciences. We should not be always speaking about
outward things; these have their places and use, but often take up
too much attention and time away from meat of the Word. Christians
are starving for spiritual feeding. Know God, know peace. 11-14-2019
