Thou Numberest my Steps...the Wayfarer 10/13/17

Thou Numberest my Steps
10/13/17

"For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?"
(Job 14: 16)

Each step taken, each breath taken, each new awakening in the morning and lying down at night, is indeed numbered!
Time given each is metered out in accordance with the choices made in how that time is used, and each decision made within that time that has been given, either for good or ill, either in the promotion of the commandment left us by Christ, or in the denial of that commandment.

"Man that is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.
He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
And doth thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
Turn from him, that he may rest, till he accomplish as an hireling his day.
For there is hope  of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
Yet through the scent of water will it bud, and bring forth boughs  like a plant."
(Job 14:1-9)

Man that is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble!
Whether those days consist only of a relatively short period of time; breathing briefly the air of a world never to see the magnificence of the soul that inhabits the body of one murdered at birth, or perhaps never given the opportunity to take that first breath, murdered within the very womb of the one chosen to bring that life into being; or whether living long past the normal span of expectation of lifetime as is experienced by a majority; that life is of few days when measured against the eternity awaiting the soul of that man given life, if only briefly, with expectation of return on the investment made by the Creator of that life.
Choices are made within those lives, starting with the choice of those brining it forth or choosing to destroy all possibility of any contribution to be made by that life, terminating an unknown entity chosen for a unique purpose by God who chose to create that life.
If that life is allowed to come to fullness of being, choices are made in how that life will affect all other lives by how a tiny child is loved or reviled, taught or ignored, guided in the direction of light and love or the direction of darkness, greed, self promotion above all else.
Each life eventually comes to a point that decisions are made according to what has transpired prior to the ability to make those decisions for one's self.
Some choose bitterness, cruelty, evil that exists in the world, returning it at each opportunity to do so, never realizing the gift of choice to change that life to something productive and worthy of the gift that was given to accomplish the purpose of that life.
These become the unteachable, unreachable, finding no accountability to their fellow human beings, and worse still, no accountability to God, never finding that spark that is given to each that allows all lives to change to be worthy of what was given, and to give that return on the investment made in that life by the true giver of it, God alone.
These are the lost.
God alone determines the time allowed to find the truth and meet the requirements for that soul's eternal rest and blessing, or to continue to reject both the blessing and rest intended for it.
These will accomplish their time, reap what meager rewards they pursue, only to find that eternal damnation and death await at the end of the time allowed them.
So long as breath continues, and life remains, choice is still available to find that truth, or to reject that truth in denial of all intended for that life given.

"But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and dryeth up:
So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep."

Once the choices of life are made within that life, there is no denying their having been made, no ? "do overs", after the death of that body, no expectation or hope of changing the choices made while still breathing and given the opportunity to make those choices.
The grave offers no second chances for a soul that chose to ignore the existence of eternity that awaits when the final trumpet is sounded and God has had enough of the shenanigans perpetrated by the creature created that would ignore the wishes of its Creator.

"O that thou wouldst hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!
If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up my iniquity.
And surely the mountains falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
the waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
His sons come to honor, and he knoweth it not: and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.
But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.?
(Job 14:13-22)

Each human being conceived faces its own reward to be given or denied by the choices made by that individual alone.
If denied those choices, the ones denying the ability to make those choices are accountable for the choices made by them. The innocent may expect the return of that investment made to suffice, as innocence is a requirement to receive salvation.
Steps are numbered. Days are numbered. Sin is both seen, and recorded.
Choices are seen and recorded as well.
The promise of life has been given, the chance to thrive in God's love has been given each.

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandmen.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Abide in me, and I  in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches; He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: FOR WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING.
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
IF YE ABIDE IN ME, AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, YE SHALL ASK WHAT YE WILL, AND IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU.
Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit: so shall ye be my disciples.
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
If ye keep my commandments ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
THESE THINGS HAVE I SPOKEN UNTO YOU, THAT MY JOY MIGHT REMAIN IN YOU, AND THAT YOUR JOY MIGHT BE FULL.
THIS IS MY COMMANDMENT, THAT YE LOVE ONE ANOTHER, AS I HAVE LOVED YOU."
(John 15:1-12)

Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
Amen and Amen.
