Sweet Milk

Sweet Milk “ As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” (1 Peter 2:2) Can you imagine what might happen if one attempted to feed a new born babe soup beans and cornbread. The possible reactions and results are numberless. This example goes to support Peters mind set as he composed this important massage to the babes in Christ in his day. The concept has not changed. It is directed to young Christians who have only recently trusted God’s enduring Word and turned from their strong world knowledge to follow Christ. Becaus e they have just experienced a miracle of regeneration, new Christian must now “[lay] aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies” (1 Peter 2:1) and partake—as babes—of the “milk of sincerity.” The word for “sincere” means, literally, “without guile,” so they must now build all future progress in their new life—not on guile, but on guilelessness! Love thy Neighbor...the Wayfarer 5/7/13

"Love Thy Neighbor"   5/7/13 “Ye have heard that it hath been said, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies and bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you”  (Matthew 5:43 &44) As promised, we will continue the series of messages taken from the Sermon on the Mount given by Jesus,  again today. We’ll pick back up at the 38 th verse shortly, but first let’s look at verses 43 and 44. This is where we often see the very laws intended to protect us, twisted...

Those Faithful Few...the Wayfarer 9/6/13

Those Faithful Few  9/6/13 “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew &:13&14) I may wander a bit through the scriptures today, for a change, although preferring to remain in specific lessons from the writings given us as normal. Please bear with me as I attempt to rightly divide the scriptures as is demanded by any true servant of God. The scriptures tell us: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. ” Romans 10:17 This same chapter from Romans, used in a previous sermon, tells us also: “Brethren, My heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righte...
