Help on the Way

Help on the Way

The mighty Clinch flows through Clinchport Virginia quite and peaceful. Except, frequently torrential rains poshes its water to a rushing, mud laden monster. Bent on destruction, it wipes out everything along its banks. For some unremembered reason, with such a flood underway back in 1961, a homemade flat bottomed Boat filled with children rushed toward the sea in a whirlwind of splashing waves. There was a small inlet where Big Spring Branch entered the river. There the water was still. That was the intended port of landing. The eldest sit at the helm fighting the current toward the landing. The effort was not successful and the boat was coming to shore just feet below the goal. In from stern, the youngest boy grabbed a willow branch; bad mistake. The boat turned broadside in the torrent and capsized; then quickly disappeared down river. The eldest could swim but wore thigh high lace up work boots.

From above. God saw the plight of his children. Help was on the way even before the boat capsized. Miraculously, the eldest, in the hands of the rescuing angel, quickly had all safely on the shore. The boat was forever gone but no life was lost.

James 5:16 “...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”
John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
Having been converted at age sixteen, the eldest was at best a child on milk of the Word. However, in later years, it was realized that many Saints of God prayed daily for the safety of these neglected children. It is written that the Father knows our needs even before we ask. It was the father that lifted these children from certain drowning and placed them on safe ground. Help was on the way even when the boat launched into sure disaster. Know God, know peace. Amen. 10-14-1010 BLL
