Deliverance

Deliverance

The year was 1982. The location, FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. The place was the roof of the fifth floor of the dormitory for students. A thirty-eight year old soul in unrest stood with one leg propped upon the roof’s brim overlooking the courtyard below. Elbows crossed over the knee testified to the dark intent of one male cadet.

Several weeks in intense study of crime fighting techniques and physical conditioning was depleting to say the least. Home visits were far between and psychological support was minimal. Real life, self produced videos of the murders by Ted Bundy, photos of victims and torture chambers of Charles Mansion, Jim Jones from Indiana, California’s self declared Messiah, mass suicide.

Heaven's Gate, an American UFO religious millenarian cult based in San Diego, California, founded in 1974 and led by Marshall Applewhite and Bonnie Nettles. 39 members committed mass suicide under the belief that it would bring them aboard an alien craft that was passing by Earth after the Hale-Bopp Comet.

Such traumatic exposure to crudity and insanity had been very difficult to process and regurgitate on exams. A faltering mind had secretly stolen away to a place where solitude and reflection could be had.

Suddenly there appeared beside him an attorney and police officer from New York City. Only a few words were spoken before the two marched back to the break room and visited others. Nothing was said of the event. The roof was off limits. No one knew they had been there.

Later that year after graduation was complete and graduated returned home, Officer Seymour mailed a picture of the roof and its victim. A simple note: “Here is what a man looks like while contemplating suicide.”

God has people who are deliverers. When times seems unbearable or not worth life’s efforts, they will appear as if by magic. Prayer is the key; not necessarily by the sufferer but other Children of God.

Psalms 27:14 (KJV) “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”

Acts 16:24 “... thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. 25 “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: ...” 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.” 27  And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, ... would have killed himself...”  28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.”

Acts 12:5 “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. 6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

1 Kings Chapter 17:5 So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, 9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

God knows His own and comes to their was in mysterious ways. Know God, know peace. Amen 10-11-2020 BLL
