Complacency

Complacency

Some folks, during their lifetime, travel many roads. In the not far past, travel was accomplished primarily by walking, horseback or buggy. Mail carriers rode horseback and traversed only the main travel ways. Those expecting mail or having mail to forward were required to travel to whatever route the mailman took. Not every one had horses and travel was only accomplished by walking. A young energetic man could cover about twenty miles a day. Some mail destinations were farther from home than twenty miles. Often barefoot, hat slid back and wearing homemade clothes, some poor fellow strutted along the dusty trail whistling or croaking some old hymn. Many successful trips caused them to become complacent in the journey. Then a rock, not expected, would meet a bare main toe and the tip would be pilled away. Walking with complacency and over confident often leads to injury or worse. Times have changed but the principle of awareness has not. If anything it has grown even more necessary. The old ways are forever gone. Some of us went with them and remain trapped in the twenties. Those who face the maladies (COVID-19) of today struggle in bygone complacency.

Spiritual complacency never has been a proper response to worship. It’s easy to drill into a grove and follow that path no matter what seems better. In worship, the old way was better. It was clearly God’s desire. Apostates become the changing visions. Thus, Christians hunker in their grove and wait silently upon the Lord. Walk away from semi-Christians. Walk into the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Don’t be complacent in believing half truths.

2 Peter 2:13 “...Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; 15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.”

2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.” (2 Corinthians 5:7) (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”

Colossians 4:5 “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” (Romans 8:4) “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
2 Thessalonians 3:11For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.”
Colossians 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:” Know God, know peace. Amen. 10-18-2020 BLL
