Stand and be Still

Stand and be Still

Hunters have a name for a small box or platform mounted in a tree or on legs. They call it a stand. When hunting season opens, they travel to their stand. Perched above the sight line of the game, they wait or “stand” in silence hoping game will appear below. Those who do not succeed by this method will leave the stand and still hunt their way back to base camp. Creeping quietly through the underbrush they hope to surprise some game resting until cover of darkness. Sometimes they are successful; sometimes not. Either way, next season will find them in their stand waiting and watching. They never seem to tire of the practice of stand waiting and still hunting.

We Christians hunt sinners in much the same way. We put ourselves in sight of hot spots of travel or meeting of groups of people hoping for a chance to shine our light or witness. We should never give up and never loose hope.

Galatians 5:1 “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free,...””
Psalms 46:10Be still, and know that I am God:...”

Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand,...”

1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”
2 Corinthians 1:24 “...for by faith ye stand.”
Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
Know God, know peace. Amen. 10-15-2020 BLL
