Perfect Union

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

I am sure most everyone recognizes the beginning lines of America’s Constitution. But, what is this document that is so well known? The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the United States of America. The Constitution, delineates the frame work of the workings of our government. Its first three articles embody the doctrine of operational powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: legislative (congress), executive, (the president); and the judicial, (Supreme Court and other federal courts.) Amendments began to be added to the constitution. We will only consider the first ten amendments in part.

First Amendment; Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;…

Exodus 24:12 “And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written;...”

Second Amendment: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Isaiah 3:15What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Joel 3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.”
Third Amendment: No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.
2 Timothy 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. Fourth Amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Deuteronomy 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. Acts 2:32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.”
Fifth Amendment: No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

Hebrews Chapter 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, andof Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: (see part 2 next lesson)
