Therefore

Therefore

2 Peter2:13 “Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 2:14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: 2:16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. 2:17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

It is not conducive to the healing we seek fearing the “governing” over our required righteous fear of God. It is a sad thing to witness professed Christians submitting themselves to government decrees through fear, more than respect of God. We are to seek God first and yield our first loyalty to Him. Unfortunately, many comply with earthly restrictions in fear of loosing government benefits or of Government reprisals. The things of this world cannot long sustain us without God’s approval. We have witnessed some things that people look to for their daily bread and those “things” soon become their god. Christ’s children are to seek substance from God Almighty. [Mat. 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.]

Therefore, we fear the wrong entity if we fear government above God. It is He who requires, and deserves, our first dependence. Government is beneath God and therefore not to be elevated as His equal of higher authority. Therefore, if we look for salvation by government we will come up with an empty mitt. We are to pray for them, honor them and obey them but not to put our confidence in them. We are to seek first the Kingdom of God and He will provide our needs. Peter wrote in his first epistle “Fear god, honor the king.” [2-17] That is the words of God always. When government authorities step across that line and attempt to manipulate God’s rules, we are obliged to peacefully resist. Christians are to hold fast to the fundamental principals of God; walk the old path. We resist in ways that will honor and respect those that are in positions of authority. Holding church, wearing masks, keeping sterilized and maintaining social distancing are all rules of the government against the spread of COVID-19. We should honor them. God’s authority is not breached in so doing. God will work the Corona Virus to His purpose which we may never know or under stand. Trust Him and look to your own and others health and safety. More depends on it than just the sickness and death. We are looking at a world gone amiss. Therefore, know God, know peace. Amen 08-11-2020 BL
