“For God so loved the World” 2/23/16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16 &17) Despite the fact that I can hear the moans of so many who think that this particular scripture is over preached and  over stated, It is, none the less where I find my need to go today. In the not so distant past, I was taken to task by a mentor, and greatly respected preacher, who thought that the time for preaching that love spoken of here had passed, and that the time for warning was all that remained to those of us attempting to reach the reachable and teach the teachable. Devils Lie #5. Pharisee Performance I once worked with a man who was quite a likable fellow. He matured into adulthood in a poor to modest home environment. This may have contributed to his zeal to achieve recognition in all areas of his public life. The “country” description of this person would be that he was “uppity.” As many folks do in life, he thought the more you put into something the more you should to get out of it. Starting at the bottom was difficult for him to accept. Very few companies, if any, hire unproven supervisors. Once he realized what he would have to do to climb the management ladder, he worked easy until a supervisor, especially the company owner, appeared in the work area. Then, no beaver ever outperformed him. He worked for attention, sought family and community recognition as a key person in the company and to gain additional funds to financially purchase those things that would increase his public status. Let not Man Prevail 3/19/17 "Arise, O Lord; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight. Put them in fear, O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah. (Psalm 9: 19 &20) In a world beset by constant strife, constant affliction, constant persecution of my brethren throughout the world, praise is often forgotten as supplication is made for relief of the troubles that are faced, and the "Woe is me" attitude often prevails as concentration is placed on the power being wielded by men instead of the power wielded by God. When God's plan is viewed by His people, the consternation that is common among society too often infects, and affects understanding of the coming effects  of that plan! They tend to forget that man has never prevailed, cannot, will not ever do so in any future time, and that all trust and praise must be given only to the One holding any true power over past, present and f...

Devils lie # 4. "God Could Never Use Someone Like Me" Not so very long ago I stopped to invite an acquiescence to church. His reply: “You all don’t want me down there, I insisted but he never “darkened the door.” Currently this man is pulling life in prison. Pray God has not turned him over to a reprobate mind. If you witness to people you encounter along life’s pathway, you are sure to hers remarks like these: “I’m too evil, They say things like, “God could never use someone like me” as God gad a criterion for salvation and service . I'm good, do good things, never sin so I don’t have to attend church.” Don’t be taken in by the lie Satan has told them. Tell them the church doors stand open and they are invited to come and hear God’s words. God has never placed parameters on who He loves, commissions, equips, or forgives. His response to us has always been to come. Come and drink. Come and eat. Come and see. Come and follow. We must understand well God’s relations...

“Fellowship” 6/1/14 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:23-25) The importance of fellowship with one another is seldom stressed as much as it should be. Navigating the path set before us as Christians is difficult, and tiring, particularly when one attempts to do so without having fellowship with others that allows us to lean and glean strength from our fellow sojourners. I come into contact with many, and have, in the past, seen many who say that they need not attend  a church service to be a Christian…and this is indeed so.
