Smile

Smile

There are smiles all about us hiding emotions of deep despair. Were we to look a little bit closer maybe we could feel the hidden pain. But, too busy and too involved in our living we return the smile and never learn the person’s name. A smile, a nod, or perhaps a “how-do-you-do’ is all we manage to spare of our day. A dollar dropped into the cup in a crippled hand or some change in the offering plate makes us feel worthy and at peace with God. Church on Sunday with its prayers for those astray and smiles for the pastor when leaving fills the requirements for honoring God’s day. But at his coming for you, for me, or for all well find just how wrong we were when we stood proud and tall. The best we have to offer are but filthy rags in His view. Without the Blood of Jesus, he would see us all as thugs. When you see a paled face’s smile look beyond the skin and into the core and share. We must never be simply Sunday Christians walking without care the other days. Our walk is all-important. It declares who we are. We display God’s love in the cross we bare.

Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. 13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness. 14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. 15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.” 2 Thessalonians 3:13 “But ye, brethren be not weary in well doing.”

2 Corinthians 4:18 “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal”

1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

Luke 14:27 “And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”

Luke 9:23 “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

The cross that Jesus bore was the sins of the world to be deposited on the cross at Calvary. He fully knew His pending price for our sins. Our cross is to live in accordance with the heart of the cross of Christ Jesus. Know God, know peace. Amen 06/07/21 BLL
