Dark

Dark

The night was dark. Only a scattering of stars was shimmering in the late evening sky. Little did they share with the garden of the light that they held. So very far above in outer space and lost to time, they served the Master’s plan. The day had been tiring for those sitting within; waiting for the Light to begin. Little they knew that the “light of the world” knelt there a stone’s throw away to pray. He was torn between two tremendous events rising on the horizon. Little did they know. Little did they care. The Lord almighty debated with himself the price of rescuing them from sin or riding His hideous plan to an end. “If it be possible, let this cup pass from me.” A million years before he prayed this prayer as though it rested upon His soul this night. There was no sin in His debate. He had met the devil face to face and withstood his best temptation. No, He wrestled within Himself; the flesh with the Spirit. The flesh played a song of another way. The spirit held fast to “you were born for this day.

Three times he went to his knees before uttering “thy will be done.” Three of his disciples slept through His agony unaware that their eternal life depended upon Jesus’ decision. He had awakened them twice already. Finding them asleep again, He told them to sleep on for His stripes were at hand.

Do we tarry with our lord and nap often? The prayers that He wrestled with that night on Mt. Olive was concerning us. I know that every drop of sweat that fell from His tormented face bore my name; and yours as well.

Luke 22:20Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

Luke 22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.”41 “And he (Jesus) was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. 47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.

Know God, know peace. Amen. 06/17/21 BLL
