“God IS Love”
4/10/14

"He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is love,"

(1 John 4:8)

I return today to scripture, and subject matter, previously covered to attempt to focus more depth and understanding on exactly what love is.

This ephemeral word holds far more meaning than a single attempt at definition is capable of giving as it is not to be comprehended by mind, but only by the soul that is not confined to a mind, or body, but may only be truly felt and understood by an eternal soul contained within the body that contains that mind.

Webster’s attempts to define that word as:

1.)      A strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties.

2.)      Attraction based on sexual desire.

3.)      Affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests.

4.)      Unselfish benevolent loyal concern for the good of another.

5.)      A god (note the spelling given in Webster’s without capitalization and the addition of the article “a”) or personification of love.

6.)      An amorous episode

7.)      The sexual embrace (copulation)

8.)      A score of Zero in tennis

9.)      And finally, God, as capitalized

All of these, with the exception of the last one fall short of defining the word as what it actually is intended to convey.

Each of the first definitions given may also be applied to other words more descriptive of what is actually meant as that single four letter word is used by so many, without ever comprehending its true meaning.

Love was first shown in the creation of a perfect world, inhabited by perfect creatures, who, then chose to cast aside that love in favor of some lesser definition of it that was given by one incapable of it.

That love continued, and, continues to exist in its entirety, despite having been rejected, and continued to be shown through a willingness to provide the means to find the way back to that original meaning, and that original eternity of something so desirable that is still denied by all who still choose to choose a cheaper substitute as still offered by that same one still incapable of providing it, providing in its place the hatred that comes through that cheapened version of the original intent.

Love was shown when despite that rejection given, by an entire world, one man recognized and honored its original intent, and found enough of it to be shown the grace provided for another chance to be given that now imperfect creature misled into denying that love.

Love was shown again as that man’s descendants once more “Progressed” away from that love, denied it and chose those cheaper imitations of it when another man honoring and having a modicum of comprehension of that love was chosen to father a special people to be dedicated to that love, protected by it, and propagate it despite others around them who could only accept those imitations, and the lies that came with them.

Love was shown when that people were placed in bondage by more of those deniers of that very love, when they were led from that bondage and a set of laws given them to assure the continuation of that love.

It was still given despite the violations and perversions of that law that necessitated the visitation of the completeness of that love to a word in denial yet again, and the means for all mankind once more to find that love.

That love was shown as it was preached, as miracles gave evidence of it were performed, definition once more restored and yet again rejected, necessitating the final chance to attain that love, as that chance was given through the very sacrifice made on a cruel cross to completely restore the ability for all to attain it.

God is indeed that love. That love has far more meaning than all the cheap substitutes used to define it.

Many seek to find that love, few find it, unwilling to give up the substitutes provided in its place, unwilling to admit that humanity is incapable of that intended meaning altogether without first accepting the requirement placed on humanity to once more attain it:

“Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”

Failure to comprehend that true definition of that love comes with the failure to comprehend the very need of that repentance demanded, as progress continues away from, not toward that love that is still available to all who are willing to accept both that love, and the terms of it being given.

My words, like so many others before me, and no doubt all who come after me are inadequate to fully define that short four letter word that holds more meaning that it is given, holding with it eternity and its comprehension, or having been denied, eternal separation from it as the substitutes, provided through the hatred of mankind by the one providing those substitutes continues to steal souls intended only to know that LOVE: to know GOD!

What is sad is that because of that very love, we are given the ability to choose or reject it, and so many continue to choose the rejection.

The choice originally given through that love is still the choice only of the individual making that choice. The choice to honor or deny that love is shown daily, by individuals and nations choosing that rejection, yet the choice remains.

Take a short amount of time to consider your choice. Verify that it is the one you actually choose. Do so by either honoring or ignoring that love already given.

“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he hat is holy, let him be holy still.

And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work may be.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”

(Revelation 22:11-13)

“He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so come Lord Jesus”.

(Revelation 22:20)

I close in prayer for those who seek love, to find it, to find its truth and true meaning, not the substitutes provided in its place, and that choice is willingly made to refuse the substitutes in favor of the real thing.

I remain, as ever, that same simple sinner saved by grace through faith having found that love and submitted to meeting its requirements of me.

I remain also that soldier I must remain, proclaiming the truth of that love to all willing to listen, and giving battle to the best of my ability to any who would promote the substitution of that intended love, love verified by the crucifixion of the only begotten Son of our Heavenly Father, LOVE that extends beyond the teporary through the eternal life offered  in the blood expended by our Savior for OUR sin, sin that would otherwise forever separate us from that LOVE!
