“Go out into the highways and Hedges”...the Wayfarer, 8/2/13

Image
8/2/13 “Go out into the highways and Hedges” “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”  (Luke 14:23) Today, we go to another of our Lord’s precious parables, this one found in the 14 th chapter of Luke. Once again he is teaching his disciples and other followers in the presence of the lawyers and Pharisees, who of course are seeking some way to refute his teachings. “And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath day, that they watched him. And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy. And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day? And they held their peace, And he took him, and healed him, and let him go; And answered them saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straight...

Righteousness exhalteh a Nation...the Wayfarer 4/1/13

4/1//13 Righteousness Exalteth a Nation “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. The king’s favor is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.” Proverbs 14: 34 &35 “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18 You probably have noticed that I chose to use two separate verses with which to open today’s dissertation. Unfortunately they go hand in hand, and we will examine them in context with some other scriptures today.  I find my heart troubled and dismayed in light of the current state of politics and moral decline in the country I chose to serve for so many years. We need to constantly stand in the fear of our Lord and understand that his blessing will not always be given to a country that ignores his laws. God has unleashed His wrath upon those who choose to go the way most popular and inclusive of the things we have been warned of since the law was first...

The Day of Salvation...the Wayfarer 2/27/13

2/27/13 The Day of Salvation "We then as workers together with him beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (for he sayeth, I HAVE HEARD THEE IN A TIME ACCEPTED, AND IN THE DAY OF SALVATION HAVE I SUCCORED THEE: behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation." (2 Corinthians, 6: 1&2) "I have heard thee in a time accepted." Thank God Jesus hears the prayers for salvation and comforts our hearts. His forgiveness is something we can feel not only on that day, but for the rest of our lives when we go to him in prayer. In the day of salvation have I succored Thee"!! If you have not yet felt that comfort and relief of soul, then you need to go to him in prayer. , Now is the day of Salvation, not tomorrow, next month or next year, nor is it as we take our last breath on this world. When the Spirit reaches you is the acceptable time to repent to Him, not to a man , as no mere h...

The Basis of all law II ...the wayfarer 4/10/13

The Basis of all Law II “For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.” (Matthew 12:8) Today, we continue our look at the Ten Commandments on which all the laws of our society are based, despite what atheists and other groups would have you believe.  It is within these ten laws that a society defines itself today, just as it was in Moses day. If that society adheres to all ten of them, it is a truly civilized nation. Without them civilization, as we know it would disappear, and chaos would rule.  Jesus stated that He is Lord of the Sabbath as well as all else. This statement was made when he was criticized for healing on the Sabbath day. Healing was part of God’s will and therefore not work as defined by the priests and Pharisees of the time. The fourth Commandment states: Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy.  Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do...

Refuge and strength...the Wayfarer

Refuge and strength Psalm 46 King James Version (KJV) 46  God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2  Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3  Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. 4  There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. 5  God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. 6  The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. 7  The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. 8  Come, behold the works of the Lord , what desolations he hath made in the earth. 9  He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, an...
