Righteousness exhalteh a Nation...the Wayfarer 4/1/13

Righteousness Exalteth a Nation

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. The king’s favor is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.”
Proverbs 14: 34 &35

“Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Proverbs 16:18

You probably have noticed that I chose to use two separate verses with which to open today’s dissertation. Unfortunately they go hand in hand, and we will examine them in context with some other scriptures today.

I find my heart troubled and dismayed in light of the current state of politics and moral decline in the country I chose to serve for so many years. We need to constantly stand in the fear of our Lord and understand that his blessing will not always be given to a country that ignores his laws.

God has unleashed His wrath upon those who choose to go the way most popular and inclusive of the things we have been warned of since the law was first given Moses. Jesus warned us about the penalties of choosing the teachings of man over the laws of God many times throughout His ministry on this earth. I will use a scripture used previously , but go further into verses over which I skimmed in the message  given in its use:

“And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same and say, Even the very dust of your city , which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: not withstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city.”

Luke 10:10-12

Jesus when sending out the seventy, Told them to go to various places and preach the gospel of repentance to the people there.

That same gospel has been preached in the cities of this country since its conception over 200 years ago.
We have enjoyed the blessings of freedom and the blessings of the fruits of our labors since we were founded by the people who came here to escape persecution in other countries and chose to honor and worship our Savior in ways that were acceptable to him.

We have enjoyed the protection of our Father’s hand throughout our brief history because of the fact that we chose to be His people. In return we have been enriched and have had the privilege of being the richest nation on the face of the earth, and the most powerful force for human dignity and rights on the same planet.

We did this while staying within the parameters established for us in the teachings of our Bible, including the Ten Commandments, which gave, not only us but civilization, a cornerstone on which to build our laws.
Over a period of the last few decades, there has been an ongoing attempt to erode the very foundation on which we built. Laws have been and are being passed that restrict our very right to worship in the manner our forefathers died to protect.

“Christian” people and churches have stood by and allowed the passage of these abominations and allowed the minority of atheists and others to restrict this nation from being what it is intended by God to be. “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to stand by and do nothing”

In one week week alone, the news included the federal judge that wants to “erase” the first four commandments from a school display because they included God. Today's news includes persecution of belief from so called "Christians" in a church attended by our leadership ,and that would instead teach inclusiveness of what our Father calls an abomination, and that those laws given by Him, not man are unfair.

God's Laws  are God's laws! Ours are only a poor reflection of our own impurity.

They do this in the name of civil rights, using our thought process of allowing all to live as they will , outside the teachings of our Lord against us.

Let’s take this a little farther!  Let’s just do away with all laws that protect God’s people.

Why not legalize all murder, instead of just abortions. After all, isn’t it a civil right to take whatever you want from others, including if necessary to get it, their life? After all in the name of fairness, we Must be inclusive of those unwilling to contribute any effort to attain their various wants. Those wants are, after all the focus of our society instead of their NEEDS.

This is the path down which we are rapidly going. Many will follow it like sheep to the slaughter never really considering how far we are taking ourselves away from the LAW and toward the same lawlessness that existed in Sodom.

Let’s look at God’s Judgment on that particular city:

“And there came two angels to Sodom at even: and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.  But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter. And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me I pray you bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
And they said, Stand back. And they said again, this one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. But the men put forth their hand , and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
And they smote the men that were at the door with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou any besides? Son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.
And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law. And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: Behold  now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. And he said unto him, See I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken. Haste thee, to escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar the sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord: And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.”

Genesis
19:1-28

Abraham  intervened with God to try to save the cities and their inhabitants. The only one found to be worthy of salvation was Lot and his family.

These people had turned from God’s laws and ways and lived in the manner they chose to live…in complete lawlessness and depravity. (Beginning to sound familiar?)  What they wanted, they took and made no attempt to justify it. They turned on Lot because of his choice to honor God’s wishes, and would have no doubt tortured and killed him for what they wanted.

God would not and will not allow this complete disregard of his moral rules, and destroyed not only the cities involved, but the rural land and its inhabitants surrounding them as well.

This brings me back to the two verses of scripture with which I started this dissertation.
Righteousness does indeed exalt a nation, this one in particular.

It is that righteousness that created the blessings that we have, over the many years enjoyed. It is only that righteousness that stays the creator’s hand from the wrath that he has against the SIN that has permeated our laws and society.

Pride does also, indeed ,go before destruction. We need to be a little more humble and honorable and respect the wishes of our Father made known to us throughout our history.

It is time for a true Christian people to stand up and speak out and let the minority that says we are not a Christian nation know that we not only exist, but will not allow any further erosion of our rights.

We need to let our leaders know that we will not accept leadership that does not include a respect and fear of the God we worship, you know, the one that brought this nation into existence to begin with!

I close with the salutation of this sinner saved by grace with not only the love of my Savior, and our nation. but also with the respectful fear of our Creator as well.

Amen and Amen
