Servants of the Lord

We are Servants of the Lord

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient.” (2 Timothy 2:24) and in 2 Timothy 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

Serving God, from the aspect of passing on knowledge as prompted by the Holy Spirit, requires application of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Patience and gentleness are invaluable Christian virtues in any occupation. Teaching, however, involves other attributes as well. Paul stated a few in the second letter to young pastor Timothy. Look for these characteristics in preachers and teachers. God-called teachers will surly display their inner worthiness to speak for the Holy Spirit. Speaking from the fleshly self, will not display the characteristics Paul wrote in letters to His young convert and Pastor Timothy.

1 Timothy 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. See also:
1 Thessalonians 1:3
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; Paul here-in used himself and his displayed characteristics as an example to Timothy.
2 Timothy 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

If a guide is necessary, preach and teach from a posture of God’’s sweet love. Practice these concepts:

Be up front and honest giving out Sound doctrine which is absolutely essential, the most vital criterion of all. “Hold fast the form of sound words. . . . Shun profane and vain babblings. . . . Preach the word . . . Exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. . . . Endure sound doctrine” (1:13; 2:16; 4:2-3). Straight doctrine is the basis of everything for it comes only from God and cannot be exploited by pseudo-leader.

Be strong always, when the word is being presented. However, be strong and gentle at the same time, and this is what God requires of his chosen disciples. “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (First Timothy 2:1). A non-gracious Christian leader is a disgrace to his calling and an abomination in the house of God.

Be studious. The Lord has given us His inspired Word, and a “sound mind” with which to study it, as well as allowing “the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us” to interpret for us (! Timothy1:7, 14) Know the Word and use it to brighten our light and spill our wisdom and knowledge upon an institution slightly off course. He expects us to be diligent in its use. “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (1 Timothy 2:15).

Be steadfast wavering not in Gods directives. Paul foresaw these very days he in which we live. He, Paul, foresees the awful spiritual and moral conditions of the these last days would experience and affect the church.— surely we witness enough to intimidate and discourage any Christian. He knows without sound doctrine we will become discouraged and waver in giving out the Word. “But,” he then says continue” .in the things which thou hast learned” (1 Tim 3:14). This putting forth of the ways of God, is followed by the heart felt necessity of the full divine inspiration, authority, and sufficiency of the Scriptures. Regardless of circumstances, a Christian teacher must maintain sound doctrine, be both strong and gracious, be diligent in handling the Scriptures, and just “live there” in the Word of God. Know God, know peace. Amen 08-04–2019 BLL
