Needs, Wants, Expectations, Entitlements and Rights
5/2/17
Matthew 6:24-34
King James Version (KJV)
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Each of the things listed in the title have been addressed time and again throughout this ministry, and, must and shall continue to be addressed as each continues to remain relevant and at times each becomes prevalent within the lives of those who take the time to read these attempts to reach the reachable and teach the teachable.
Need is not determined by any of the other listed subjects of this dissertation, nor by the preference of the individual, but are often defined by the perception of those who think that any or all of the subjects fall within their own purview of comprehension as the world relates to them alone, and revolves around them alone.
Needs are common, beginning with the needs of any child birthed into this world, any child conceived within the womb of this creature and all creatures that coexist with him.
The needs of a child born into utter poverty and privation are no different from those of the child born in the largest of mansions, most influential and powerful family that exist alongside him.
The helplessness of that child does not determine that need, as all are equally as helpless to supply that need within themselves.
Warmth, safety, nourishment, love, and the continuation of them follow that child born into any circumstance, from conception through eventual death, where that need may no longer be supplied by the sustenance provided by others of their kind, or by the efforts expended by themselves.
That need does, however continue, and has the means of provision of its continuance as was the initial intent of the Creator, wherein lies the promise of eternal life.
The assurance of the continuation of the provision for the needs of the SOUL takes precedence over the needs of the temporary body and the wants that, all too often supplant the need through the misperception taught from birth by those having no concept of need, only the concept of the want for all that is available.
It is the misdirection of priority that is responsible for the condition of a world that fails to recognize the difference between need and all else that I attempt to address.
That misdirection is fomented from birth by all who fail to find that common need that exists in this and all creatures that exist on this puny planet within an entire universe encompassed with need that may only be supplied by that creator.
Wants are taught, by example, by a covetousness that is taught by that example, and by the societies that are built by a covetous creature whose wants will never be satisfied unless the initial need is first fulfilled.
Nations define wants as needs as well as do individuals. Nations seeking to satisfy needs may only do so when recognizing the needs of others of their kind, supplying a means of provision of needs to those others... TRUE NEEDS... not the wants that include power and wealth all too often pursued without regard to the NEED.
Whether covetous of space, wealth, power, or any extant concept, it is that covetousness that allows for the rise and fall of societies and in fact the rise and fall of humanity itself.
Want is defined by that very covetousness, without true relationship to need.
Expectation is the next word listed in the title.
Expectation, unlike need, and very like want, is determined, not by the individual himself, but by the circumstance that generates that expectation.
Expectation is also taught, from birth by parents and surrounding society, and the perception of family or society to meet that expectation, without regard to the required effort of individual or nation to assist in meeting the fulfilment of that expectation, and without regard to the greater expectation of the Creator that demands participation for that fulfilment.
Charles Dickens wrote a novel that is lauded as one of the greatest literary pieces in the English language titled "Great Expectations".
It is an example of the vanity and foolishness of those in pursuit of expectations unbounded by the necessity of that participation.
Another writer, philosopher named Voltaire approached the subject as well, attempting to define how much that participation affected the outcome of the fulfilment or fruitlessness of those expectations.
Though the expectations of a child born into abject poverty are far different from those of a child born to the royalty of each age are far different, the need remains the same, and the outcome of that expectation remains equally dependent upon that participation toward the achievement of that expectation, whether driven by want or need.
Entitlements, is another word that is used in conjunction with wants, all too often, like expectation, driven by want, not need, driven by perception rather than reality.
What one is entitled to is also dependent upon participation rather than spectatorship and simple loud demand.
Genesis 3:19
King James Version (KJV)
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Expectation, entitlement and demand need take into consideration the expectations, entitlement and demands of the Creator Himself.
Rights was the final word addressed in the title.
Rights are a subject addressed throughout the world, defined by the concepts and theories provided by societies that either do or do or do not recognize that those rights must devolve from the same supplier of needs, and may not be defined by any lesser creature than the Creator.
We have been given choice and means of supplying all NEEDS, after which having been supplied as intended redefines Wants that cannot supersede them, that definition redefining expectation based on an eternal timeline rather than the temporal one experienced leading through the murky definitions of men to the entitlement of rights given by God Himself.... Choice.....choice of pursuit of eternal life, or the baubles offered in its place. That Choice came at a cost too dear for man to pay, requiring the sacrifice of a Savior, requiring the acknowledgement of that Savior, requiring an acknowledgement of the difference between NEED that may be supplied and those other words that deny that need.
Need remains for that WAY to be known, and accepted, That TRUTH to be heard and that LIFE to be pursued throughout this one, in priority to all those other words that attempt to provide detours...detours unfailingly taken by all who would deny that WAY, TRUTH, and LIFE.
John 14:6
King James Version (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The needs are provided for, only the acceptance of that provision remains, and that remains incumbent upon each of the children born into whatever circumstance, whatever society, whatever political arrangement that are the creations of men.... Men who have forgotten that life is not a spectator sport, but demands participation, and recognition of the greater participation already given by God.
Ecclesiastes 12:13
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and Amen
