Revive us Again
 6/3/16

Romans 5:1-2King James Version (KJV)
5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

When beset by the constant harangue of the chaos that surrounds us, the continuous cacophony of the troubles of a world capable of only producing more turmoil and discordance, evidenced by, and in, the responses of evil given for evil, vengeance promoted and sought for slights and slanders, both great and small, by both the great and small people seeking an agenda, repeating a cycle that unceasingly fuels that same cycle of hatred and fear, it would be easy to get caught up within that cycle without remembrance that that cycle has already been broken, and overcome and need be given less attention rather than more, that solutions should occupy our thoughts rather than the problems themselves.

Two old hymns often heard during seasons of revival are intended to, and should, engender the faith that alone may silence the chaos and discord.

Revive Us Again
“We praise You oh God for the Son of Your love
For Jesus, who died and is now gone above
We praise You oh God for Your Spirit of Light
Who has shown us our Savior and scattered our night
Hallelujah, Thine the glory Hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah, Thine the glory Revive us again
Hallelujah, Thine the glory Hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah, Thine the glory Revive us again
All glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain
Who has born all our sin and has cleansed every stain
Revive us again, fill our hearts with Your love
And may our souls be rekindled with fire from above
Hallelujah, Thine the glory Hallelujah, amen
Hallelujah, Thine the glory Revive us again”

This first one mentioned offers praise for answer already given to the plea for revival within that must occur continually in order to claim the peace spoken of in the opening verses of scripture, and the joy spoken of by David in the following passage as well:

Psalm 51:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

David did not ask for a restoration of salvation already given, he asked for a restoration of the JOY of that salvation already given!
That joy is held when the remembrance of the salvation maintains precedence over those things that would attempt to diminish it, but cannot unless allowed to do so through the forgetfulness of its beneficiary.
It is that forgetfulness that must be guarded against, and the remembrance that exists to give that restoration only if the proper perspective is maintained through prayer, praise, and refreshment of it through not only reading God’s word, but through keeping it within the heart as well during the times it is most needed.

The second hymn, another still that echoes the priority of maintenance of what is already given, is the means to grow that joy, and to show others the means of attaining that peace despite the attack of distractions intended to steal any possibility of that growth.

Send a revival
1 Send a revival, O Christ, my Lord,
Let it go over the land and sea.
Send it according to Thy dear Word,
And let it begin in me.
2 Send a revival among Thine own,
Help us to turn from our sins away.
Let us draw near to the Father's throne,
Revive us again, we pray. [Chorus]
3 Send a revival to those in sin,
Help them, O Jesus, to turn to Thee.
Let them the new life in Thee begin,
Oh, give them the victory. [Chorus]
4 Send a revival in ev'ry heart,
Draw the world nearer. O Lord to Thee.
Let Thy salvation true joy impart,
And let it begin in me. [Chorus]
Chorus:
Lord, send a revival,
Lord, send a revival,
Lord, send a revival,
And let it begin in me.”

That request made within the chorus of this hymn is where the answer is to be found.
The revival that is sought is found by the seeker and may only be spread by the finder… whose memory continues to include the joy of what is already given that may not be taken once accepted.

John 14:23-27
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Pray diligently for revival… Pray diligently for remembrance.
Seek what has already been given, and allow what has been given to be at the forefront in mind and in action.
What was given is the GRACE that is to be had only through faith in the salvation for any choosing to accept it, granted by the gift of Jesus’ sacrifice, resurrection and continual mediation.
That continuing mediation, and the promise given through that mediation cannot cease, will not cease, both gifts of grace through Christ Jesus.
There is no room for fear, nor is there reason for forgetfulness.
When hard pressed by concerns of this world, remembrance must be given that Jesus overcame the world already, give your concerns to Him instead of hoarding them to yourself.
Keep your eyes on the prize already attained, there is none greater to be had, and any other offered is but a poor substitute once it has been seen and accepted.

Revelation 22King James Version (KJV)
22 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Remember…and continue in HIS Grace!

2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and Amen
