Each day bares its on unique set of events. Some recognizable some masked in ignorance. As we near the dawning of a new day, calling upon the Lord is a necessary activity. If we neglect the creat o r and giver of the new day, we simply cannot have a right spirit. Joy comes in the morning only through God’s book of promises.   Promise Only God can soothe the striving, immortal soul. He made the heart for His glory. Only He can fill it with peace and love. That is a promise that He made to those who fulfill His purpose in our creation. Though it is a simple manner to return to God and serve His purpose he is a complex ruler of the universe. A God of peace, a God of war, he cuddles His own and chastens them. The enemy of God can expect stern reduction in numbers beneath His two edged sword. We are to walk circumspectly in his ways, rightly dividing the instructions in His Word. As iron sharpens iron, Christians sharpen one another. We must police our own. Consider this: Two little children went into the creek side meadow to run and play. Adults knew the danger but hoped they would be okay.   Brotherly Love There is a love that cannot be rightly defined by words alone. Some call it brotherly love, Good calls it loving your brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus as you love yourself. Maybe the “golden rule” should state do unto others as you would do for yourself. You might say that brothers are like beautiful flowers in a bed of mulch. They bear a sweet nectar upon which little critters feast. However, most of the nectar drips to the mulch as rain from heaven. There at the roots of each other , it soaks in and nourishes each one to the other. Sure, there are a few weeds in the bed of roses that enjoy the benefit of life’s nect a r. God calls them tares and if uprooted may also uproot the beautiful tender flowers around them. Small and insignificant they do not diminish the beauty of the garden. Christians are similarly compared to this garden. They cluster together sharing the fruit of their labor of love. Among them are weak brothers and sisters who may contrib...

  Slip and Slide. Cain slew his brother Able without provocation. Simple jealously and personal chastisement drove the hand with the clod that struck the deadly blow. The bible record does not elaborate further than the act, burial and denial by Cain. Because evil had entered into the hearts of all God’s people they began to slip and slide further and further from the right way into the waiting arms of Satan. Eternal life on earth had been forfeited. Peace and tranquility had become null and void. Hate, greed and coveting replaced love in peoples heart. As births occurred, these evil traits were passed on through generations. God turned a rejecting back toward humankind. It grieved Him that he ever created them. It was a pattern of “slip and slide” into deeper depravity until all the thoughts of people on earth were evil. One mans life appeared before God and displayed belief and righteousness.   Praise “ I praise God with all my soul and all that is within me; praise His holy name.” Often times in our small country churches we hear this chant from the congregation. Hands raised toward heaven, they repeat the phrase over and over until they are sure God has heard them. It is a wonderful and vibrant experience. We are to praise God as every opportunity presents itself. Glorifying His holy name is a primary assignment given to His children at their new birth. Of all the innate charges given glorifying God is among the highest in rank. There are numerous and varied methods of displaying God’s great glory. We speak often of our walk of life as if it were a simple passage through time in an upright position moving forward. Yes, the fact that God created us and set us on life’s journey is glorious and honors Him.
