Gold Tried in the Fire.....the Wayfarer 7/28/19

Gold Tried in the Fire 7/28/19    Revelation 3:15-22 King James Version (KJV) 15  I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. 19  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. ...

John was a Wayfarer.....the Wayfarer 11/3/14

John was a Wayfarer 11/3/14 “Peter, seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me. Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? He suffered persecution and torture, survived attempts to kill him, refused to give into the wishes and will of either the governing body of Jewry or Roman la...

Today’s title is in concert with this quote from Isaiah, the statement when normally made by men is not. Too often, throughout life we either hear explicitly, or, more often, implicitly the statement, “ It’s my way or the highway.” This of course meaning that there is only one acceptable choice available to the one spoken to, brooking no argument, no negotiation, no room for any opinion other than that of the speaker. Quite often, the way offered is untenable, and unacceptable to the hearer, particularly when the hearer finds subservience to the speaker unacceptable. The speaker, a fallible human being can and will make rash decisions based on falli...
