Satan's Misguided Desire
Satan’s
misguided
Desire
(Isaiah
14:12-14)
12
"How
art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art
thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13
For
thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will
exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the
mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Lucifer,
the old devil, took a beating in the scrimmage for ruler ship of
heaven. He aspired to be “king” of the universe. He believed he
had the power and support sufficient to accomplish this task. Ezkiel
28:11-15 11
"Moreover
the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
12
Son
of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto
him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of
wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13
Thou
hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was
thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the
onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle,
and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was
prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14
Thou
art
the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so:
thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down
in the midst of the stones of fire.
15
Thou
wast
perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till
iniquity was found in thee.”
Satan
said “I will. God said “you will not.’ Look who was right in
His statement. Satan wanted to be God, and this monstrous pride
became “the condemnation of the Slew Foot.” Already as close as
close to the seat of God ans any other angel would ever be, Satan was
not content. He was God’s “anointed most high angel of light.”
His
greed and jealousy of God corrupted him so
that he is now “fallen from heaven” and will soon be “brought
down to hell” (Isaiah
14:12,
15 our
opening reading).
Lucifer,
came
up short in qualifications. He was not the power that formed the
universe and all that is in it.
(Ezekiel
28:15).
The
force that he set his aim to dethrone was the creator of all that is
or will ever be; even Satan.
It would seem therefore that for him to rationalize himself
to be like the most High, he must somehow persuade himself that God
is a created being like himself, and thus can be defeated. If
he
only could
have realized he was
created by God
he
evidently chose not to believe God’s
practiced superiority over all things seen and unseen.
(just as do multitudes of men and women today).
Far
too many “so called Christians” in this modern time called the
“New Age” chose rather to believe that the eternal cosmos created
all things by its own existence. The great creation would have had to
make itself and then made all else. (Mother Nature, perhaps) has
“created” spirit beings, as well as men and women, and all the
worlds inhabited. How any mentally well person could be led to
believe such an impossible creation is difficult to fathom.
We
can say with out reservation or equivocation that the “Angel of
Light” became the first
evolutionist and
original force of darkness.
The
great lie by which Lucifer
deceived himself became the basis of his later deception of Eve and
then of the founders of all the varied pantheistic religions of the
world, as well as modern evolution
and “New Age” philosophies. Nevertheless, God is still on His
throne, and “the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords,
and King of kings” (Revelation
17:14)
Know
God, know peace. Amen
