This Ignorance

Acts 17:30-31
King James Version (KJV)
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Invincible ignorance

Although having previously addressed the subject of ignorance, it is incumbent that it once more be addressed in the context offered by this short, but eloquent warning given us in Acts.

A lack of knowledge is forgivable, if that knowledge once given is accepted and applied.

Being uninformed may come by failure to recognize the choice to become informed, but is no longer acceptable once the choice is made to ignore what has been given, rather than to accept that information.

Before the advent of the law given by Moses, the only guidance was that which was inherent in man that defined right and wrong. Man was ignorant of the law.

After the advent of that law, many remained uninformed of the law despite its existence.

Even after having been informed of the law, far too many chose to ignore it in preference of their own goals and desires, pursuing an alternate law of their own that was more palatable and less restrictive.

That desire to conform God's laws  to man's desires led to confusion and refutation of the intent of the law itself, as it was continually added to and  subtracted from by those interpreting  the laws given, obscuring the obvious intent by their machinations, rather than accepting the simplicity and clarity of that original intent.

When Jesus came, He did not negate the law as originally given, but instead made possible man's forgiveness by fulfilling the complex demands for sacrifice that were so difficult to meet, and restoring the original intent of making mankind acceptable to God... through redemption in return for repentance.

God has, in the past, winked at man's lack of knowledge despite his continual search for it.

That knowledge has been given us, and few may claim ignorance of it.

Far too many continue to choose to ignore, rather than accept what is certain.

Repudiation of known facts because of the desire to replace them with what is more palatable and acceptable to men  will not be winked at, and the consequences of attempting that repudiation are crystal clear throughout the scriptures, both old and new testaments.

What is also crystal clear, is that choice must be made, man's way, or God's way.... The two are irreconcilably divergent and opposite.

Jesus' birth, life, message, and sacrifice were not in vain and are sufficient to reconcile man with God, provided man, individually not only hears, but heeds both the warning and the promise delivered through His sacrificial death and resurrection.

The message remains redemption in return for repentance through faith in that which has already been assured us by the Son of God himself.

The time has come to cease our own winking at what is demanded of us and accept that God's will still prevails over any demands of society that chooses to ignore, chooses to remain in its ignorance in some misguided attempt to change the unchangability of God Himself.

There remains One Way, One Truth that leads to Life, and it cannot be found through any claim of ignorance, nor will it allow for avoidance of preordained consequence through being ignored...

2 Timothy 1:12
King James Version (KJV)
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Amen and Amen
