Live the Truth
“Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.” (1 Corinthians 4:1)
The great mystery of God is that we worship Him in TRUTH and in the SPIRIT. As we worship, we minister unto God’s people and thus to God Himself. For in as much as we do it to His disciples, ministers and servants, we do it likewise to Him. In as much as we “Minister” often in secret it is possible to slacken or come short of God’s purpose for us (Greek word huperetes, which literally means an “under-oarsman.”) Workers who often are beneath the scene pushing the project onward. It sometimes they row in reverse and God’s wishes are threatened. He will not allow such to go unchecked. A “Steward” is the somewhat more familiar term, translated from (oikonomos, which is the “house-law”)for any enterprise that is large enough to require supervisors designed in a charted chain of command. Up and down the line of authority all must respect within legal boundaries (Luke 16:1 and Romans 16:23).
These expected of God standards are codes of ethics that all followers of Jesus Christ are to emulate. We are to love one another and do good for one another at all times. Slighting a brother or sister is denying God His Glory. We are of the “household of God” (Ephesians 2:19) and every man serves each other as keepers of God’s grace (1 Peter 4:10).
Luke 18:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: The limitation and exercise of authority demanded of us Christians is to guard, keep and display the “mysteries” of God. A normal and often made mistake is to select ill fated purposes that we will serve with our time, talents, spiritual gifts, and resources. The primary place is, of course, the local church (Acts 16:5; 1 Corinthians 16:1).
Additionally, we are expected to give tithes (Acts 20:35; 24:17) to God’s missions and work to reveal and clarify those mysteries of God.
Today’s unique requirements in our secular and scientific culture necessitate a willing if simple person of God who can learn and support the efforts of those who hold sacred the mysteries of God. God has no greater admiration than seeing a bride working in His fields. Know God, know peace. Amen 04-10-2019 BLL
