A Time, Times, and an Half
9/1/14

"And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished."
(Daniel 12:7)

This 12th chapter of Daniel, in conjunction with the writings of Amos, and John the Revelator were the basis for the sermon most recently given by this old preacher, who has seen, firsthand the scattering of God's people, the ones called holy by that old prophet that gave this prophecy of a time yet to come, that he himself stated he could not clearly understand, asking what the end of the things seen by him was to mean.

Promise was given that there would be help for that people given as was preordained of God through the auspices of none less than the archangel Michael in a time of trouble that would be far greater than any that had ever before been seen.

The promise was for the delivery of that people, every one that was to be found in the book of life.

Along with that promise came a warning as well of what lies in store at the time of the resurrection that only some will waken to everlasting life, while others waken only to shame and everlasting contempt.

We are told that the wise will shine forth, just as Jesus asked us to do, turning many to the truth of righteousness.

Wisdom comes only through a fear of God that inspires not only fear but obedience to and adherence to the instructions given by Him in how to prepare for that day that awaits all living souls, and those who have lived in the past as well.

Daniel was told to shut up the words of that book and to seal it, so that it would remain sealed until the time of the end.
He was also told  that many would run to and fro, increasing knowledge until that end came.

"Knowledge" increases continually, unfortunately the same may not be said of wisdom among those thinking to increase knowledge while forgetting their very ignorance of wherein true knowledge lies.

Daniel was told that  many would be purified, made white, and tried.

The purification has been in progress throughout the centuries, and continues as the truth of his prophecy is seen daily in all aspects of the current world events.

The wicked still do wickedly, none understand what is wicked in the sight of the God that created them, denying even the fact of their own creation by Him. Abomination reigns in the world facing the judgment of that same God who forewarned  the conclusion of the matter through all the prophets, lesser and greater as defined by  man, each of which delivered both the same promise offered here, and the same warning of condemnation for those choosing to follow the path of that aforementioned "knowledge".

Despite the scattering that has taken place, the persecution of the remnant of that holy people, those wise enough to hear and heed the words spoken by these prophets, the promise and warning both remain until the end is declared, and choice has been made to accept wisdom, or knowledge as is given by men.

Christ told us that he who endures to the end shall be saved.
Daniel expresses the same thing, telling us that those who wait will be the recipients of the promised rest, and will stand to receive  the rewards promised for maintaining that endurance and adherence to the requirements given by not only those prophets, but by Christ himself  for redemption through repentance.

Amos, in the eighth chapter of his prophecy, warned of a famine to come, a famine not of food or drink, but one of even hearing the word of God.

That famine is fast upon us as that word is quashed by both the purveyors of death and destruction honoring false prophets and false religion, and leaders who quash the very tenets, morals and values that were given through that word.

Many wander from sea to sea, and throughout the directions of the compass in search of that word, only to find it diluted and compromised by the teachings of those more interested in fortunes of this earth than that of what awaits once those fortunes are long deteriorated and gone.

Originally, I planned to attempt to write, in as much as possible the exact same sermon delivered in an assembly of those choosing of their own free will to honor and glorify God.
The end result of that attempt was that draft after draft was erased somehow prior to conclusion.

I therefore ask the reader to please go to both the referenced scriptures; the 12th chapter of Daniel, and the 8th chapter of Amos, read for yourselves what has been given us and make your own determination of exactly where we find ourselves within the timeline that was referenced in each of them.

I conclude with the same scriptures concluded with during that sermon that was delivered, hoping that the effectiveness has not been lost along with the disappearing drafts that forced the writing of this, perhaps less compelling means of conveying what was given that day.

These last quoted scriptures cannot be denied, cannot be erased, cannot be avoided in this time of sorrows that is being forcefully thrust upon us by those who would deny even its existence as well as the existence of what is yet to come.

"And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren, the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

He that is unjust, let him remain unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may  have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."
(Revelation 22:8-15)

Promise and warning! Even so come quickly Lord Jesus!

2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Amen and Amen
