“Give the King thy Judgments”...the Wayfarer 3/29/14
“Give the King thy Judgments”
3/29/14

“Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness
unto the king’s son.”
(Psalm 72:1)
Today, we go to the book of Psalms for
our guidance, a book that includes not only songs of Praise, but prayer for
God’s righteous judgments, pleas for God’s mercies, pleas for both repentance
and the mercy only to be had through the righteousness of giving control to God.
The songs of joy contained in this
book are many, so are the songs of lamentation because of the failures of God’s
people.
Praises are offered those who served
God, prayer for deliverance from those who did not are offered as well.
In a world today that has either
forgotten God, or intentionally ignores Him, and what the intentions for our
kind were from the beginning; striking out in directions that will only take us
farther from that intent, as well as taking us farther from the mercies, grace,
and love of God; forgotten also, for most part, are those prayers given through
the Psalms as example that could, if offered, place us back on the correct path
to that love, mercy, and grace.
We choose leaders for all nations,
peoples and even our churches, with disregard as to what would be done through the
will of God, give reign to those who instead of honoring God, deny Him, all His
laws, all His tenets and all His commandments, replacing them with their own,
and those of the ungodly issued in their place.
The opening sentence of this Psalm
should be on the heart of every human being for every leader of every nation,
people, and, particularly, every temple, tabernacle, church, or whatever a
house of worship may be called.
The kings, presidents, prime
ministers, dictators, or whatever title taken by the leaders of nations, the
priests, rabbis, and most specifically those who would be ministers stand in
need of the prayer for God to give them His judgments, His teachings, His will
in the execution of the jobs assigned them.
If this first sentence alone were
offered in prayer by the multitudes, with the expectation and firm belief of a
positive response by God, the strife, and problems of this ball of dirt would
diminish and cease to exist.
Those multitudes do not, and will not
offer that prayer. They prefer the choices made that follow only those leading
from God, instead of to Him.
“He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor
with judgment.”
The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little
hills, by righteousness.
He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the
children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure,
throughout all generations.”
(Psalm 72:2-5)
Despite the connivances and
inventions of mankind, God still reigns in judgment. He still has the means and
will to judge the poor and save the needy by means of those who still fear Him!
With or without the help, the prayers
and action that must be taken to preserve the fear and honor demanded by Him,
those oppressing God’s people will be broken, as will those in support of them
and the leadership away from Him.
“He shall come down like rain upon mown grass: as showers
that water the earth.
In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of
peace so long as the moon endureth.
He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the
river to unto the ends of the earth.
They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and
his enemies shall lick the dust.
The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents;
the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall
serve him.”
(Psalm 72:6-11)
Despite the trials, tribulations, and
persecution faced by God’s people, the promises made in this prayer will indeed
come to pass! Despite the false promises made by those in charge that refuse
that requirement to honor His will, His leadership, they too must and shall
face His judgment; will acknowledge His omniscience and omnipotence. There will
be no other choice given them as they face not only His judgment, but His wrath
as well.
“For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth, the poor
also, and him that hath no helper.
He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls
of the needy.
He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence; and
precious shall their blood be in his sight.”
(Psalm 72:12-14)
Take note of the prerequisites of
leadership given here, and what is expected of that leadership if it is truly
within the will of God.
Violence, and need seem to go hand in
hand, and must when that leadership fails to live up to the demands of God.
Blood fills the streets throughout the cities
of every corner of this ball of dirt wherever that leadership is lacking,
wherever the people choose to ignore the fullness of God’s intent for us.
Murders, thefts, aberrations and
abomination exists in the shadows of the streets of those cities, and instead
of expungement through Godly leadership, they are encouraged and multiply
through that continual leadership from God, instead of to Him and the love that
is offered by Him through the New Covenant made with us, the teachings and
commandments of that New Covenant, and the requirement of that New Covenant
that redemption come only through repentance and acceptance of that
Covenant given through Christ Jesus.
When that covenant, the teachings
given through it by our Savior honored, repentance is truly offered, change is
not only possible, but imminent and demanded.
“And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of
Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be
praised.
There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top
of the mountains, the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon; and they of the
city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued
as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him
blessed.
Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth
wondrous things.
And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole
earth be filled with his glory; Amen and Amen.
The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.”
(Psalm 72:15-20)
Where David’s prayer ended is where
ours must begin! The things he asked for
with this prayer, must be the same requests made by us as well. The
leadership sought for Israel, through this prayer, must be the leadership we
seek and the only leadership we may accept.
I close in prayer for that very
leadership. I pray for the righteous judgment of God, both for and on that
leadership, and the peoples being led.
I pray that that leadership when
falling away from God’s will and His intent, either be turned to repentance and
returned to that will, or for the swift and speedy removal of that leadership
that refuses to acknowledge God, His laws, His commandments, His love, His
mercy, His grace that can only be found when HIS leadership is
sought, found and followed.
I pray that the people being led away
from all of those things just mentioned, join me in that prayer, demand that
leadership and accept nothing less than what is intended to remain blessed by
God, then also offer the same glorification and praise to God, the only one
capable of those wondrous things, most especially the only one capable of
granting the redemption offered if that people, that individual repent, and
accept the provision of that NEW Covenant given that promises more than what is
asked by David in this prayer, extending to an eternal life with the blessings
requested and far more than those requested to any willing to accept them.
I remain, yet and still, always that
same simple sinner saved by grace through faith in that only One capable of the
wondrous things mentioned, and the only means of attaining that life eternal, the only way to that life
and the only truth that can direct us
with worthy leadership.
I remain also, the soldier willing to
serve only that leadership, that intent, that purpose given by God, denouncing
all others that deny that leadership, while still left standing on this battlefield that
rages, with leadership given in an attempt to thwart that intent, to steal those
souls promised salvation in David’s prayer. I stand with and for the leadership
that gave and gives that promise of redemption through repentance, the
leadership of Christ alone.
2 Timothy 1:12-14 King James Version (KJV)
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
Amen and Amen
