Bless the Lord, O my Soul
1/1/19

Psalm 103:1

 King James Version (KJV)

103 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

New day, new year, new beginning for each life that exists to see the numbers change from one year to the next, as the last year is remembered, either fondly, or, with the chagrin of the lack of success for what was planned for that "old" year.

A day of reflection, and a day of planning, both of which should include a day of thanks for the breath taken in both.

As that "new" year is entered, the Psalm used in opening today should loudly resound for each and every child of God throughout the "Old" and "New" world that celebrates the advancement of time, and man's inability to impede or in any way sway that advancement coming through and falling within plans established by the Creator from the moment it was spoken into existence.

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Psalm 103:2-5 KJV

The blessings given this paltry, powerless creature need be remembered both in what has been given, and from Whom they are given!

The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:6-12

God's longsuffering and forbearance are continual as is evidenced by the very fact that the next breath is given, the next chance to make that breath worthwhile is given, despite all that is past, despite all choices made, that, for any other, would preclude that forbearance and mercy being extended by a loving and caring Creator willing to forgive the stubborn refusal of this creature to accept his place within that master plan formed in the beginning, progressing ever toward its fruition and completion.
Take note of the warning accompanying the promise of that mercy and forbearance that is included within the 9th and 10th verses of this song of praise, however. Time draws ever closer to the day that all chiding, and all correction of course come to an end as judgment is passed on both those hearing promise and warning, and those refusing to heed either of them as well!

Those having heard and heeded the promise, and the warning can look forward to that day as the other must hold it ever more in trepidation and fear as man's futile powerless attempts prove unable to change either direction or duration of that plan, or each place held within it!

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
Psalm 103:13-18

His memory, HIS pity remains unchanged, and unchanging, despite the shortness of our own memory that is seen constantly as the same failed path is taken, the same failed action is touted as new and better, the same failed ability of man proves the  fact that God alone is God, and man remain man despite all attempts to claim otherwise.

19 The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

22 Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.
Psalm 103:19-22

As the page is turned on the calendar, conceived by man, as the numbering of years advances by a single digit proclaiming the "new, better, more prosperous year" given so much attention and celebration around the globe, remembrance of who made and controls that globe needs be given as well.
Remembrance that the final covenant that delivers that forbearance and mercy is also marked by that changing of dates on that calendar need be given.
Remembrance of the love that was proven through the birth, life, death and resurrection of Christ Jesus need be given.
Remembrance that there is only ONE way, ONE truth and ONE life needs be given.
Remembrance of the soul that is blessed only through that ONE way, truth and life  needs to be given as place is remembered, as helplessness to attain eternal life intended for this creature without having first becoming cognizant and accepting of that ONE way truth and life should be at the forefront of celebration of a "New" year.

 It is only new when it is renewed through the rebirth and regeneration of that soul by Christ Jesus.
All else is vain and foreordained to imperfection created by men forgetting the very existence of that soul, and the Creator of that soul that delivers the blessing.

Bless the LORD, O my soul without whom there is no blessing to be had now and forever.

2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and  amen
