The Foxes have Holes
4/2/16

"And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head."
(Luke 9:57 &58)

Christ was a wayfarer.

From the time he began his ministry, until the day they finally crucified him, completing the final sacrifice for sin ever to be required by God, he was forced to wander.

Despite the miracles performed, and the compassion shown those most in need of that compassion... or perhaps because of those things, he was hounded and persecuted daily by those refusing to accept the simple message of redemption for repentance, and the need to truly follow the precepts given by God throughout the history of the Jewish people's existence.

Time and again, he stressed the need to focus on spiritual things instead of the wealth that is acquired through the complacency and apathy of those who refuse to look or go beyond the small corner of the world in which they live.

That complacency and apathy  bred, and still breeds, contempt for the spiritual while honoring the physical in its place.

Need was stressed over want, selflessness over selfishness, concern for the soul instead of concern for the body... all requiring that if need was to be met, sacrifice and self denial had to be made.
To be a disciple, a follower required, and requires dedication to those values he constantly expounded.

As time progressed, the anger of the greedy and selfish and self righteous built to a crecendo that demanded his death, despite his innocence of any crime other than preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God that was and is available to any and all willing to meet the simple requirement of redemption through repentance... and belief... belief not in self, but in Him and in his ability to meet the needs of the people who stubbornly refused to acknowledge those needs.

Those needs have not changed, nor has the requirement to give repentance to receive redemption... to not only acknowledge the needs of others that stand in priority above one's own wants, but, to provide a means to them to meet those needs, whether they themselves recognize them or not.
Poverty is measured far differently when measured by His standards.

The richest are often the poorest among us, valuing only the physical that can never and will never transcend the grave, choosing instead to value only the selfishness and greed that accumulates more and more that is so transitory and valueless at the throne of God.

Christ was a wayfarer.

2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and amen
