When the Roll is Called Up Yonder
Revelation 20:11-15King James Version (KJV)
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from
whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for
them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and
the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books,
according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and
hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man
according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is
the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was
cast into the lake of fire.
Roll call! … This is a command, demanding response with which this old soldier is quite familiar!
Roll call was and is the means of
identifying the soldiers standing in formation, and to identify any and all
missing from that formation to complete information in the morning report given
each day to assure safety and strength of the unit submitting that report.
It assured that that report was
complete, and allowed the commander to know if there were any AWOL’s,
casualties, or others missing that should have been present, giving
accountability for any not answering the call, giving assurance of the ability to complete that day's mission, or to know that that mission cannot be completed without replacement of the absentees.
Over the years, many times, that
accountability was deferred until complete information was available, the
morning report delayed until accountability given why any were missing.
The roll call that is the topic of
today’s title has no need for missing information to be submitted; that
submission is complete before the roll is called.
This wonderful old song, written by
James M. Black, and having its copyright renewed in 1921 reflects the Roll call yet to be held, as does the scripture
chosen for this dissertation.
“When the trumpet of the Lord shall
sound and time shall be no more;
And the morning breaks eternal,
bright and fair,
When the saved of earth shall gather
over on the other shore;
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll
be there.
On that bright and cloudless morning
when the dead in Christ shall rise;
And the glory of His resurrection
share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to
their home beyond the skies;
And the roll is called up yonder I’ll
be there.
Let us labor for the Master from the
dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all His wondrous love
and care;
Then when all of life is over and our
work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder I’ll
be there.
When the roll is called up yonder,
when the roll is called up yonder, when the roll is called up yonder, when the
roll is called up yonder I’ll be there.”
When the command for this roll call
is issued, there will be NO Awols, NO unaccounted for report given by any. The
report will be complete, the morning report having already been written and
submitted prior to issuance of the command.
It will be verification for all, and
all will answer by name, giving accountability for themselves to that Commander
as to where their presence lies.
The only additional information
submitted will be that information given by Christ Jesus identifying His own,
and denying those who denied Him.
This roll call is final, the morning
report being the last necessary as the morning of an unending day begins, and
unending accountability is assured.
That accountability, and that report
is written by each, for himself, choice having been given, opportunity extended
to be accepted or rejected through the birth, life, ministry, sacrificial
death, and resurrection of a Savior, and the only mediator between God and
man... Christ Jesus.
Roll call is being called now, the
answer given now.
Present, or not present, you will be
present for the one to come.
Revelation 22 King James Version (KJV)
22 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear
as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the
river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded
her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the
nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and
of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their
foreheads.
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle,
neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall
reign for ever and ever.
6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and
the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the
things which must shortly be done.
7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the
sayings of the prophecy of this book.
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had
heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which
shewed me these things.
9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy
fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings
of this book: worship God.
10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of
this book: for the time is at hand.
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is
filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous
still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to
give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first
and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have
right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and
murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things
in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and
morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that
heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let
him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the
prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add
unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of
this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of
the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come
quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Sing out, loud and clear as to where you stand without temerity or fear, confident of ability to perform assigned duties, that confidence given through the complete assurance that Christ Jesus is checking off that name as both present and capable, capability given through HIM alone!
Amen And Amen!
Sing out, loud and clear as to where you stand without temerity or fear, confident of ability to perform assigned duties, that confidence given through the complete assurance that Christ Jesus is checking off that name as both present and capable, capability given through HIM alone!
Amen And Amen!
2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
