“In what place ye hear the Trumpet”

“And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, the work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.
In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.”
(Nehemiah 4:19 & 20)
Here a glimpse is given of a people at war, resigned to that war, recognizing the existence of that war and to the necessity of all to be participants in defending that nation from the ungodly determined to conquer and devastate them.
This was a people determined to rebuild the temple dedicated to God, and in honor of His unique love for them.
As in all times before, and in all times since, there was turmoil, constant persecution, constant attack made on the people who were chosen by God to be His people.
Those who denied God, were then, as now, those most adamant and vicious in that attack on God’s people and most loudly denied God and that people’s right to existence among the nations of the world.
Then , as now that people had been weakened from within by accepting the norms of the societies around them, and by accepting substitutes for God and His laws because the laws of those men were more convenient and acceptable to the ones who had no faith to begin with.
Those who remained, honored and kept that faith, stood firmly, not only in belief, but also in action taken to protect that faith, protect and honor those laws given them that provided the special blessings from God.
They stood entirely united against the enemies that surrounded them, each one willing and able to take his place in that defense, without regard to position in society, nobility, function as artisan or mere servant to any other.
“Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall.
And our adversaries said, they shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you.”
(Nehemiah 4:9-12)
Prayer is still being made to that same God for that same strength to endure and preserve His people despite both the enemies that attack from without, and the enemies that are those the rubbish that still holds up the progress of those seeking God, Seeking to honor Him despite those enemies seen and unseen.
Warning was given, and heeded of the intent of those ancient enemies, and how easily infiltrated a nation could be, from any direction possible that would distract and divide that people from their God.
Warnings given today go unheeded by most, not even understood as having any importance by most, who fail to even recognize the dangers of those enemies that still search for any and all ways to attack.
Nations go on blissfully unaware, touting equality, tolerance and acceptance of anything and anyone, yet in denial of God, His Son, His love, and particularly the laws and commandments given to assure the very continuity of God’s people.
Once the infiltration is accomplished, it is far easier to promote the goals of those enemies, and kill any and all in disagreement with their degenerate laws and degenerate morality that they willingly substitute for the reality of God and God’s intent for us.
“Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears and their bows.
And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your daughters, your wives and your houses.
And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
And it came to pass from that time forth, that half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all in the house of Judah.
They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.
For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.
And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.
In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us."
(Nehemiah 4:13-20)
Once upon a time, not so long ago as Israel as described in this scripture, another nation stood united against all enemies that sought to bring it down, stood united in purpose over two hundred years of attacks from both without and within steadfastly honoring first the laws of God above all, and the laws established to assure their continued existence as another of God’s chosen people.
They too took up the arms required for their own defense, each and all with the same determination and purpose in mind, to build that nation into a better place for their children, and all following generations.
They stood united, artisan with craftsman, wealthy with poor, master and indentured servant, all in defense of both nation and faith.
That unity lasted well into the last century, with that same belief and faith leading the charge against all who would bring it down.
It too was subjected to the wiles of an enemy who crept ever further into the workings and operations of that nation, and who now attacks from within, through apathy, blatant atheism, those promoting laws of other nations above their own, and an alliance of complete evil in array against all that is Godly, all that holds only to the truth; all that would defend the remnant still sharing the very things built by predecessors: they fight against all the things that brought them originally to that nation out of necessity, to escape that same enemy of evil, enslavement, lack of compassion, lack of work ethic to build anything but self that existed where they had been, subjugating all that they would be and would worship.
It is now a nation that denies even the fact that it is at war.
The trumpet is sounding loudly going from one point of attack to the next to rally the few left to defend both faith and nation, as that trumpet is still unheard by the masses who welcome that enemy, with all their lies and promises made in substitution of the truth given by God, through his Son.
I close in prayer that the trumpet be heard above the lies and promises, and that more find their way to defend the wall. I pray that more recognize that the war is won, even if the battle is lost, and are willing participants in all battles enjoined against that lying thieving enemy whose goal is the total theft and destruction, not of mere nations, but eternal souls as well.
I remain a simple sinner saved by grace through faith in that Lord who is still great and terrible, in knowledge and faith that that enemy will be brought low and to nought once and forever by my God.
I remain also the soldier set to give watch, to defend, to call others to the fight already enjoined and remind them that they have nothing to fear, as it will be won simply because our God will fight for us, and that there is no power that may ever stand against Him!
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
I am Alpha, and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
(Revelation 22:12 & 13)
Even so come, Lord Jesus!
Amen and Amen.
