Psalm 98 King James Version (KJV)
1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done
marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the
victory.
2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness
hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house
of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud
noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
5 Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the
voice of a psalm.
6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before
the Lord, the King.
7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and
they that dwell therein.
8 Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful
together
9 Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with
righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.
Today’s title comes from a hymn that
is one of my favorites on many levels, the first of which is that it is also a
fervent prayer, as were the psalms.
Praise should be continually given
for the blessings bestowed on each of us daily, remembrance given continually
as to Whom the final authority has been given, and in Whom it resides eternally. Acknowledgement of place, both His and our
own, must also be given daily, as must effort be made to be humble before Him
as that place assigned us is recognized while we continue the assigned journey
to take that place intended for us in His presence.
This old hymn is not only a request
that God have His way with us, but reflects the fact that His will will be
accomplished, the outcome of all life having been established by Him, from the
beginning, and that it should be our desire and concern that we assist instead
of resist what is foreordained if we are
to assume that place assigned, making the choice to accept and share the
acceptance of the grace given us through Christ Jesus.
“Have thine own way, Lord, have Thine
own way! Thou art the potter, I am the clay.
Mould me and make me after Thy will,
while I am waiting yielded and still.
Have thine own way, Lord, have Thine
own way! Search me and try me, Master today.
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just
now, as in thy presence humbly I bow.
Have Thine own way, Lord, have thine
own way! Wounded and weary, help me I pray.
Power all Power, surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal e, Savior divine.
Have Thine own way, Lord, have thine
own way. Hold o’er my being absolute sway.
Fill with Thy Spirit, till all shall
see, Christ only always, living through me.”
Once having accepted the grace given
us through salvation by Christ Jesus, the prayer from each and every person
having given that acceptance will and must strive daily to share the joy of
that salvation by emulating in every way possible the love that was given us
through that grace.
The inner struggle with our nature
does not cease, and may never be overcome without the assistance given us only
through Christ, delivered us by the Holy Spirit that will indwell us when
allowed to do so, requiring that control be relinquished to Him as we endure
while all about us attempts to wrest that control from us and give it back to that
old enemy that would deny the power existing within us to others.
Prayer and supplication for that
assistance is acknowledgement of that power, strengthens it within, and brings
it to the fore making it apparent to all through the exercise of that power in
our lives, making apparent, also to all, the power held only by Christ to
overcome for them as well.
The joyful noise that resides within
us is shown both through our praise that is given for that power, and through
the humility that must also be apparent if the source of that joy is to be
found by others.
Remind one and all that there is a
reward to be had that may only be had when that place is acknowledged, repentance
is given and redemption accepted, that there are two halves to the gospel,
warning and promise, and that both are delivered by the same Savior… That God
is God, man is not…That choice of place is our own, and final…is made while
within the temporal and temporary, but once made is eternal.
Sing the new song of that new
covenant established through Christ, vocally and forcefully as that song is
written through your life, reminding all of both the promise and the warning as
well when He returns to complete both as the 9th verse of the
opening scripture assures us.
2 Timothy 1:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and Amen
