Where their Worm Dieth Not...the Wayfarer
Where their Worm Dieth Not
Mark 9:38-50
King James Version (KJV)
38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.
50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
Hell and eternal damnation have long been denied by a majority, those seeing no possibility of a wrathful God, or of a truly just God meting out justice as deserved, the same ones that deny His very existence by denying both His Love and His Wrath, denying the gospel brought us by Christ Jesus that included both warning and promise.
Scriptures given us regarding the eternal separation faced by that majority are ignored, or carefully reworded in a manner that would allow that "warm fuzzy" sought by all, as repentance demanded in those scriptures is no longer taught, even though it continues to be demanded.
Sin is not a mere transgression of law as would be failing to stop at a stop sign...then receiving a ticket for the offense, failure to pay that ticket until the court forgets the existence of that ticket with the passage of years.
God's memory exceeds time itself, and unpaid debt will be collected, either through the blood of Christ, and the forgiveness obtained through redemption given for repentance, or through His verdict resulting in the second death, a death of all hope, but not of a soul sentenced by its owner to its chosen destination...often called Hell, but far more than that as described by Jesus both in the opening passage and the description given in Revelation.
Revelation 20:11-15
King James Version (KJV)
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Whosoever was not found!
That book of life continues to be written as each makes his decision in what and in whom to believe.
John 14:6
King James Version (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Coming to the father in contrition with the full belief in the forgiveness that can be given only by Christ demands the acceptance of the fact of His existence, His Love, AND His WRATH that is part and parcel of the promise delivered by Christ Jesus.
The promise of ETERNAL life in heaven as described in Revelation 21 and 22 comes with the verification of "Hell" (eternal damnation and separation from that LIFE) found in the same book, it comes also with the continuation of the warning in the words of Christ in that final chapter as well.
Revelation 22:12-13
King James Version (KJV)
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Those preaching only half of the gospel preach a false gospel, a false hope, deny the reason for Christ having been sacrificed and resurrected.
Those preaching without reminder of what awaits those choosing to ignore the blood of Christ put him back on the cross, rather than on His Throne.
HE is not on that cross! Nor can he ever be placed there again!
The reality of HIS life is the REALITY of OUR Life, if life is chosen, and the REALITY of that second death so denied by so many daily.
2 Timothy 1:12 KJV
12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and Amen
