Swing the Door Open Wide
Swing the Door Open Wide
Revelation 3:20
King James Version (KJV)
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my
voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he
with me.
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my
throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto
the churches.
The scripture used in opening today
comes from the third chapter of the final book in our Bible, at the end of the
letters to be sent to the seven churches, and in particular at the end of the
letter to be sent to Laodicea, the last of the seven addressed by Christ, and
the one most castigated for its actions and lack of actions, sincerity and lack
of sincerity.
These seven letters are quite often
referred to in terms of church ages…. the progress of the church from the time
of the crucifixion to the time of the return of Christ to claim His Bride, the
church.
That progression began in Spirit and
in Truth, and those who would meet the
requirement to endure must heed the warnings given throughout that
progression, remaining within the confines of Spirit and in Truth.
There was never any change made to
the promise given through Christ, nor was there ever any change made for the
requirements of receiving that promise.
The changes that prompted and still
prompt the warnings came, not from God, but from men who, like the scribes,
Pharisees and lawyers before them, watered down that Truth, circumvented it and
insisted on replacing it with methodology and ideology they themselves found
more palatable, socially correct, politically correct, and unfortunately Spiritually
and Truthfully false.
Still the door may remain open, if it
is opened through the hearts of those who have closed it.
Swing the Door Open
Wide
Swing the door of your
heart open wide, Let the Savior of sinners within;
Bid Him enter and with
you abide, Give you grace a new life to begin.
(chorus)
Swing it wide, swing it
wide, Swing the door of your heart open wide;
Swing it wide, swing it
wide, Bid the Savior come in to abide.
Swing the door of your
heart open wide, Hear His voice ringing out clear and sweet;
There’s a wonderful
Friend just outside, Haste with gladness your dear Lord to greet.
(chorus)
Swing it wide, swing it
wide, Swing the door of your heart open wide;
Swing it wide, swing it
wide, Bid the Savior come in to abide.
Swing the door of your heart open wide, Do not
grieve Him by turning away;
Long with patience He’s
waited outside, He will give you a blessing today.
(chorus)
Swing it wide, swing it
wide, Swing the door of your heart open wide;
Swing it wide, swing it
wide, Bid the Savior come in to abide.
As mankind has entered that final “church
age” recognition must exist of the consequences of having done so.
Recognition must be given to the
requirement of Spirt and Truth in worship, and in the lives of those who would
meet those requirements.
Matthew 15:8-13King James Version
(KJV)
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and
honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the
commandments of men.
10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and
understand:
11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that
which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that
the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly
Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
Throughout His ministry Jesus sounded
the warning alongside the promise. Both still ring loudly through the “ages”
still as true now as they were when spoken.
Care should be given, and warning
taken with the love with which it is given as the progress over those ages
attempts to close a door that must remain open, and shall when His Knock is
responded to instead of ignored.
Revelation 3:14-22
King James Version (KJV)
14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write;
These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of
the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would
thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,
I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and
have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable,
and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou
mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the
shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that
thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous
therefore, and repent.
There is a lot for sale in today’s
world, caution must given to the price to be paid.
What is not for sale remains a gift,
and cannot be bought, but may be accepted, if the door is opened!
Amen and Amen
