A Little Faith?...the Wayfarer

A Little Faith?

Matthew 17:20
20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Jesus, in response to his disciples' question regarding their lack of ability to cast out the evil that chose to reside in a young child was simple, direct and to the point.

Faith was required! Belief was required!

In looking around the world today, I find MUCH faith, but it is not Faith and Belief in Christ Jesus.

Faith resides, readily visible in political leaders of all stripes, no matter what those leaders are leading to, or from.

It exists in the theorem and "certainty" of the "science" expounded in the reasoning of the faithful to science itself.

It exists in the justice administered by men whether truly just or not, and in the men administering that "justice" despite the frailty and corruptibility of those same men.

It exists in the capability of weapons, small and large to defend and assure life to those faithful to the power exhibited by those controlling them.

It also exists in the walls of cathedrals, churches, mosques, and buildings that profess to have Faith, yet have faith only in the prosperity of those very buildings and those who choose to occupy them.

There is indeed MUCH faith in evidence, as those seduced by faith in men continues to promote that faith in everything BUT the simple message of redemption for repentance preached by Jesus that allows only for FAITH in God, FAITH in the message sent us through THE SON OF GOD, FAITH in the unchagability of the WORD of GOD Himself.

Hebrews 11:1 King James Version (KJV)

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

This is the opening verse of the 11th chapter of Hebrews, in which Paul brings to remembrance the necessity and product of FAITH.

Each of the examples cited by Him maintained FAITH  in the face of adversity rather than relying on faith in themselves rather than in the required Faith demanded of them by their Creator.

Great buildings eventually rot and fall, as does the faith that was professed in their very necessity, all of man's "faith" in his engineering feats are meaningless as the demand for true and abiding FAITH remains.

John 3:16 King James Version (KJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This often quoted verse, most precious to all who have FAITH contains a codicil, a requirement that too often remains overlooked and  even more often, ignored.
This should come as no surprise, but SHOULD indeed, be cause for concern to any who would remember wherein FAITH is to be and MUST be placed.

Luke 18:8
8I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Faith in Christ must be faith in both the promise of eternal life given in John 3:16, and faith in the warning given there as well.

FAITH is merely a word until obtained, then and only then becoming reality of the ages as intended.
Christ brought truth and grace to this world, and made that truth and grace available to all of mankind.
Without acceptance of the TRUTH, grace remains unaccepted and distant, a mere concept requiring more than a "little faith"
Matthew 8:26
26And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

He who calmed the storm still remains in charge of both the storm and the calm.
HIS words remain the TRUTH given to provide grace to those willing to hear His message of redemption....His message of repentance.
Wherein does YOUR faith reside?

2 Timothy 1:12
12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Amen and Amen
