Consider your ways!...the Wayfarer 7/12/13

Consider your ways! 7/12/13 “Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. Ye have sown much and bring in little; ye eat but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.” (Haggai 1:5&6) Today we go to the words of a lesser known prophet whose message bears directly on the condition of our nation, and our Church in today’s time so conspicuously that it may not be ignored. We live in a world , and time where all peoples seem to be dissatisfied with their lot in life, their living conditions, their interactions with others around them and wonder why things are not better than they are. We have indeed sown much , Especially the nation in which I live. We have made alliances, sent aid in various forms throughout the world to improve the lot of those other nations in an attempt to bring them to our way of thin

God Thought... the Wayfarer 4//13/13

"God thought, therefore I Am" 4/13/13 “And God said let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:26&27) Today’s title, once again is taken from a personal experience instead of directly from the scripture. In my pursuit of an education, I found many interests and various courses to aid me in understanding my purpose in life. History and languages were where I found many answers. Philosophy and the writings of various “thinkers”, was yet another, and a requirement toward reaching my eventual goals. One of the professors that still stands out in my mind was a great advocate of Des Cartes, and his instruction could not help but

“Junk on a Bunk”...the Wayfarer...12/6/13

“Junk on a Bunk” 12/6/13 “For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? Because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. (Hebrews 10:2) Today we go to Hebrews for our scripture; once again the writings of Paul provide both warnings and advice to the believer and hope to all who would listen. Once again, the title comes not from scripture, but from past experience as I attempt to get Paul’s point across to the same folks he addressed, through the use of examples from my own life. “Junk on a Bunk” is a term readily recognized by those who have served in the uniform of my country, often dreaded by young soldiers, including this now older one. It referred to the inevitable inspection of everything issued by the army

I am the Door... the Wayfarer 2/23/13

I am the Door 2/23/13 “Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.” (John 10:7) Today we examine what Jesus had to say in reference to the only means available to enter into God’s presence. Here He speaks of the tricky, and all too believable false prophets, that would have you to believe that there is some other way to God, except through Him. We shall begin at the first verse: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber, But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.  To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.  And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him for they know his voice, And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him, for they know not hi

Last Words...the Wayfarer 5/24/13

“Last  Words” 5/24/13 “Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel said, The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue, The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after the rain. Although my house be not so with God: yet he hath made me with an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation and all my desire, although he make it not to grow. But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands: But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and the
