I'd Rather Have Jesus
I'd Rather Have Jesus
Matthew 6:33-34 KJV
33 But seek ye first the
kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto
you.
34 Take therefore no
thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of
itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Listening
once again to the constant clamor that assaults the senses with politicians
making promises, slinging mud from and at each side as those promises are made
with seemingly different visions of the “treasures” to be had if only their
direction is followed, all the while concerned only with the outcome of the
choices to be made in regard to their own particular interests, and their own
vision of utopia it is once more time to remember just WHOSE people we are
intended to be, and just what treasure
holds true worth.
Blame and
recrimination abound, overshadowing the hollow promises made that lie beyond
the scope and ability of any side to fulfill, without first seeking the
approval and assistance of One that is willing to forget both blame and
recrimination, is capable of delivering on far greater promises than those being made.
Each calls
attention to the troubles to be faced, being faced, and attempt to define the
reason for those troubles as the fault of the other, neither admitting that the
fault lies within the “treasures” being sought by both.
I'd Rather Have Jesus
I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold
I'd rather be His than have riches untold
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or land
I'd rather be led by His nail scarred hands
I'd rather be His than have riches untold
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or land
I'd rather be led by His nail scarred hands
Than to be a king of the best domain
Or be held in sin's dreads way
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today
Or be held in sin's dreads way
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today
I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause
I'd rather have Jesus then world wide things
I'd rather be true to His holy name
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause
I'd rather have Jesus then world wide things
I'd rather be true to His holy name
Than to be a king of the best domain
Or be held in sin's dreads way
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today
Or be held in sin's dreads way
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today

What is being
offered by all sides remains an unacceptable offering that denies the power and
efficacy of the LIFE offered through Christ Jesus.
Hope, change,
greatness, security, order, peace through strength, all words used to present
ideas and ideals impossible to achieve without the favor of God, a favor
possible only when HIS plan, HIS intent, HIS purpose, HIS unchanging will for
mankind is followed.
John 1:1-23 King James Version (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness
comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light,
that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that
Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh
into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the
world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we
beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of
grace and truth.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of
whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before
me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by
Jesus Christ.
18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son,
which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests
and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the
Christ.
21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith,
I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an
answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make
straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
The voice in the wilderness continues
to call out, to remind us that there is only ONE WAY, ONE TRUTH, and ONE LIFE.
When that voice is unheard,
disregarded, ignored, the rewards to be reaped by listening to the voices
attempting to drown it out cannot help but be the same rewards already reaped
by those who have continued to listen to them in the past.
Romans 6:23 KJV
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.”
Old covenant and
new both hold precedence over any covenant or law instituted by man, for man.
Both require the acknowledgement of the Creator and HIS original plan for us,
that same unchanging and unchangeable plan that continues until the preordained
time of its completion.
Deuteronomy 6 King James Version (KJV)
6 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the
judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do
them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his
statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy
son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may
be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy
fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in
thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and
shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by
the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
The light still
shines in the darkness, awaiting comprehension. Only when that comprehension is
achieved will the treasures also be achieved.
Having opened
with the passage from Matthew, I would close with another of its precious insights, one giving
both warning and promise:
Matthew 6:19-21 KJV
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth
and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Time has come, to hear, comprehend
and decide just where hearts lie, hearts of men and along with them hearts of
nations as well.
Jesus gave us a single commandment to
love one another as He loved us.
He gave us a promise of redemption in
return for repentance.
He fulfilled the law, did not negate
it.
When His commandment is followed, HIS
message is heard, then and only then will the treasures be attained.
Amen and Amen
