His Love Lights the Way
His Love Lights the Way
John 1:1-5 King James Version (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness
comprehended it not.
The Light continues to shine in the
darkness, and the darkness continues not to comprehend it, making that Light no
less bright for those who do.
That Light
has not dimmed, has not decreased, has not diminished in any way for those
willing to see it, choosing it over the darkness that encompasses only the
willingly blind, willingly deaf, willingly lost, unreachable and unteachable
because of a refusal to admit the existence and necessity of that Light.
The Life
that is in that Light also remains, when that Light IS chosen, when it IS acknowledged,
IS seen and followed.
Today’s
title is once more taken from an old hymn written by Allen Frazier, copyrighted
in 1938, still valid, still vibrant, still continuing in the attempt to bring
that light to those who hear it.
A song of
joy, it begins by acknowledging having first heard the warnings given, then
having accepted the promise as well, and the result of both.
“His Love Lights the Way”
I’ve left the old paths I traveled so
long, I’m happy redeemed and free,
Of Jesus the Lord, I sing a sweet
song, His love lights the way for me.
(chorus)
His love lights the way, I travel
today, I’m shouting the victory,
My sadness is past, I’m happy at
last, His love lights the way for me.
The pleasures of sin no more I
desire, No good in them now I see,
The Spirit has set my being on fire,
His love lights the way for me.
(chorus)
Each trial o’ercome adds strength to
my soul, And faithful I’ll ever be,
The billows of grace now over me
roll, His love lights the way for me.
(chorus)
The hymn’s
last line in the last verse in conjunction with its chorus expresses fully the
source of the joy that is conveyed through the song, as well as that same joy
conveyed by John in the 4th verse of the opening scripture.
That joy, that
Light, is intended to be shared by all, is given to all, willing to receive it,
still available, still pertinent despite the darkness!
It was and
continues to be the pure and abiding LOVE that is God given us through His Son,
Who reminded us that there is a need to abide in that Love, and the means of
abiding in that Love.
John 13:34-35 King James Version
(KJV)
34 A new commandment I give unto you,
That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye
are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Loving one
another as He loved us includes sharing the precious message delivered by Him,
both warning and promise, so that the promise not only becomes attainable for
those residing in the darkness, but is also accepted by them.
Not all WILL,
accept despite the fact that all CAN accept.
This is a sad, but true fact that must never
be denied in view of the few willing to accept the joy of the Light given.
Those who do
must remember to Whom they belong, and the guidance given by Him continuing to
reach the reachable and teach the teachable of that Light.
Matthew 5:3-20 King James Version
(KJV)
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they
shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall
inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and
thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they
shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for
they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they
shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted
for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile
you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely,
for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for
great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were
before you.
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if
the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth
good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city
that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and
put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that
are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy
the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven
and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till
all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one
of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the
least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same
shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your
righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye
shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
The
righteousness spoken of by Jesus cannot, must not, and will not be our own, but
His alone.
That
exhibited by the Pharisees, He referenced was one of all show and no go!
It requires
comprehension of our own lack of that righteousness and dependence upon His.
It also
takes into account the fact that the darkness will swallow up those refusing to
see the Light, and that they in turn will continue to proliferate and promote that
darkness, as it is more palatable for a majority, willing only to abide within
its constant shadow, accepting their blindness as sight, expecting others to
conform to that blindness, deriding any and all who attempt to lead them to
both sight and Light by the only means possible for its reception.
This refusal
still can never extinguish the Light and Love and Life given us.
It is now
ours, cannot be taken from us, remains with us no matter how dark and foreboding
the world may seem.
We in turn
must continue to walk in that Light, share that Light, promote that Light,
knowing that the end consequence of having done so is the promise we have
accepted and that He alone has and will continue to deliver.
Revelation 22:1-7 King James Version
(KJV)
22 And he shewed
me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the
throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and
on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve
manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree
were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but
the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve
him:
4 And they shall see his face; and his
name shall be in their foreheads.
5 And there shall be no night there;
and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them
light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
6 And he said unto me, These sayings
are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to
shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he
that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
Those who
have accepted that precious light must and will always echo the final words of
this precious promise:
Revelation 22:20-21
King James Version (KJV)
20 He which testifieth these things
saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be
with you all. Amen.
Relying on
that grace, the WAY, TRUTH and LIFE, I pray for others to find and accept the
grace only found through that Light.
Amen and
Amen
