Heavenly Sunlight
Matthew 28:19-20King James Version (KJV)
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Even until the end of the world! This
is the promise made to us by my Savior, that we are accompanied continually
throughout the days of joy and plenty, and those of struggle and strife as
well, a promise that brings the brightest of sunlight to the stormiest and
darkest of days that may be faced by any choosing His company for this journey
through life, and choosing to remain in His company throughout eternity!
Today’s title comes from an old hymn
written by the Rev. HJ Zelly and GH Coo, and reflects the joy that should and
can be found only through having heard the warning and accepted the promise
given through the life, ministry, sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus.
“Walking in sunlight all of my
journey; Over the mountains thru the deep vale;
Jesus has said “I’ll never forsake
thee, promise divine that never can fail.
Shadows around me, shadows above me
never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the light, in Him is no
darkness, ever I’m walking close to His side.
In the bright sunlight ever rejoicing,
pressing my way to mansions above:
Singing His praises, gladly I’m
walking, walking in sunlight, sunlight of love.
Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight;
flooding my path with glory divine:
Hallelujah, I am rejoicing, singing
His praises, Jesus is mine.”
Never forget as that walk is taken
that that light remains throughout the darkness, that the shadows are only apparent
when the light is shown, that the deeper the shadow, the greater the light that
creates the contrast between that darkness and itself.
As the worries and pressures of the
world close in, the naysayers continue to grow in number, the discord and chaos
grows stronger, the shadows gather with the coming light that shows only the
strength of that light that when seen dissipates all fear of what may lie within
the darkness.
It is only those who would choose the
darkness created by man who need have fear of that light that will suffuse us
with the intended love and joy for which we were created.
The shadows are gone when the light
is at its brightest, that light that allows no shadow of darkness, which comes
at the end of the journey, and lights the journey for those willing to carry
and share it during the journey embarked on at birth, ended either in the full
brilliance of God’s eternal love, or ended in the darkness of separation from
that love because the darkness was chosen instead of that light.
Light may only be seen through open
eyes, and open hearts, closure of either is to choose the shadows, and remain
within them cowering from the light, denying both the need for, and presence,
of that light.
John 3:16-21King James Version (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of
the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the
world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither
cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds
may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
That heavenly sunlight has been
delivered to shine on and within any and all willing to accept the gift given
through Christ Jesus.
Shadow and darkness cannot deny the
existence of the light, cannot keep the light from any willing to step within
the confines of its protection, and will not diminish nor in any way diffuse
the power projected through that light.
That light is continually available,
continuously shining for all who have heard and heeded the warning given and
accepted the promise delivered in recompense…redemption for repentance… the
only means of attaining that light.
The simple message given us by that
LIGHT, Jesus, remains the same preached throughout His ministry, from the time
of His baptism to today:
“Repent! For the kingdom of heaven is
at hand.”
AMEN and AMEN
