“If it feels good, do It”...theWayfarer 2/12/14

“If it feels good, do It”
2/12/14

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways saith the Lord.”
(Isaiah 55:8)

Take note of the distance of thought process between the title used for today’s dissertation, and the quote from Isaiah with which I choose to open.

The title is taken from a phrase heard throughout the “lost years”  of the 60’s and 70’s  and was often mouthed by those who now hold the positions of power, and having the ability  to change the world in which we live, and have done so, to our shame and chagrin.

Other phrases that come to mind are: “Live fast, die young and leave a good lookin’ corpse,”… “Psychedelics only open the mind to the universe.”… “Never trust anybody over 30.”… “Sex, drugs and rock and roll baby!”… “Gotta’ put it to the man, before  the man puts it to you.”

Each of these phrases and numerous words that came to be commonly used, and that are in fact still used, are indicative of the rot that took over a society through what was purported to be a search for truth, peace, and prosperity.

The mindset that came about during the proliferation of this type of thinking is now even more prevalent than ever, and the deterioration has advanced more rapidly with each generation born since all the values that once were the norm, became perverted to exclude morality, decency, loyalty and any pretense to uphold the ways of God spoken of in Isaiah.

Substitution of the premise of “Free Love”, and now, “Friends with benefits”, for the sanctity of a core family, as established by God from creation somehow occurred, and that sanctity is now derided and mocked by those who would pervert the very meaning of the word marriage.

The Ten Commandments, once prominently displayed are now often forbidden to even be seen in public.

The foundation of prayer, to the One True God, that established a nation is being forbidden, being deemed a means of violating rights of others, when in fact, close examination of those given rights shows that they were intended to prevent those worshiping that God from persecution by the state that now would forbid any public practice of that right…for Christians, yet that goes out of its way to make allowances for the tolerance of everything but Christianity.

Even the single commandment to love one another, left us by our Lord has been abused and twisted into a collective requirement that would force all to recognize only the generosity of a state that has no concept of what that love entails!

How did this happen in so short a time?

It happened in the same way it has happened over and over to many nations who fell in love with ideas that sounded lofty, but proved to be the ruination of entire societies.

It began long before the generation that initiated the phrases I chose to give as examples. Those ideas were always there. They were also rejected for what they were, contrary to what is expected of us, and demanded of us by God.

Those who still promote these things, do so through false flags, those of “equality of all”, “tolerance of all”, and most especially the most touted that “it is for the greater good”.

They forget both the opening verse I used and those which follow it:

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereunto I sent it.”
(Isaiah 55:9-11)

God will not allow his wishes to be ignored forever. He will accomplish His plan despite the stupidity and stubbornness of any given generation.

The time rapidly approaches, as it did during the days of Noah, when enough will be enough, and payment will be called in for that stupidity and stubbornness that denies His power, and even His existence.

If you truly wish to follow the philosophy of the title, I would ask if temporary pleasure is a worthy substitute for eternal bliss offered in its stead.

I would ask if death is a suitable substitute to be exchanged for a shortened life, and if eternal death is an acceptable exchange for eternal Life.

“Choices, choices… Preacher, my, how you do go on.”

The choices are yours to make, not mine, I can only point out that the time to make them is now, while you still can, and also that you still have the opportunity to choose wisely when making that choice, which once made will be undeniable to the One whose ways are far higher than your own.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”

That is a choice I made long ago, and have never questioned, nor regretted. It was that choice that made a simple sinner, a simple sinner saved by grace through faith, giving assurance of life, not death, to a soldier, still determined to serve on this bloody battlefield that appears littered with the defeat of all I hold true and dear, but on which victory is not only promised, but guaranteed by that Savior who granted me that grace, overcame that death and all defeat, and may never be defeated, and that, to me, still feels good, and shall long beyond the temporary life of this corrupt flesh.

2 Timothy 1:12 12For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Amen and Amen
