Hills of Glory
Revelation 21:4 King James Version (KJV)
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there
shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any
more pain: for the former things are passed away.
One of the songs requested at a
service sometime back was unknown to me, requiring that I research and
hopefully find it for the individual requesting it.
This was important to me, because of
the adamant way in which the request was made, and the fact that this
particular individual participated in each and every service from the outset of the particular
ministry in which I was, and am involved.
It has since become one that holds
and shall continue to hold special prominence in my repertoire, and in my life
itself, speaking to the often unseen pain that causes many to doubt, causes so
many others to seek relief that is not to be found in the places that relief is
sought, but that is available only in the promise delivered us by Christ Jesus,
and delivered only on His terms through the redemption given by His grace in
return for repentance.
“In a land that’s filled with so much
suffering, Sometimes we wonder why these things must be;
A loved one with pain beyond
understanding, Makes me long for things still yet to be.
When the time shall come for me to
leave my home down here, Then I shall go to a place prepared for me.
Where death’s a stranger, and there
will be no pain nor tears,
I’ll inherit a home called heaven
where I’ll be.
There no more crying, There no more
dying, In a land free from all disease.
On hills of glory, I’ll tell my
story, of how Jesus died to save a wretch like me.”
The pain of our loved ones is
apparent to each of us. Often that pain is quite beyond the understanding of
any not themselves experiencing that pain.
For many, it is physical pain,
experienced because of accident, or because of the result of warfare that led
to loss of limb, sight, or other bodily part or function.
For far many more, it is an unseen
injury that is the cause of the pain. It is pain experienced in the mind and
soul of those bearing it.
Again the causes vary, including
those suffering from PTSD as a result of warfare, and yet others suffering the
same malady from other traumatic events that occur daily.
That unseen pain causes changes in
personalities, causes changes in the perception of the world and all within it
to those bearing it.
Far too many succumb to that pain,
seeking solace and refuge where none is to be found in substance abuse, and
many succumb completely giving up on life itself in desperation never looking
to the one place that solace and refuge may be found.
Others lash out in anger at all
around them, never seeing that that pain is noted and that someone cares, even
if unable to alleviate it for them.
The world becomes seen through the
jaundiced eyes that see only the pain, and the possibility of further infliction
of yet more of the same as relief is sought everywhere except where it is
actually to be found.
1 John 4:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
This single verse gives us the only
answer that may ever have any effect on that pain, and gives us the means to
provide the only relief possible for that pain, both for our loved ones, and
ourselves as well.
Jesus gave us one single commandment,
that commandment was that we love one another as He loved us.
That love is the only weapon that
will ever be available that can be effective in the fight against the pain that
submerses an entire world in its waves of despair, anguish, distrust, and agony
of complete lack of hope.
Hope does exist. Hope is certain.
Escape from the depths created by that pain is possible…. But only through the
love given us by Christ Jesus, and shared by us with those who experience it.
The individual that requested that
song, now long ago, has passed.
Her pain, her sorrow, her anguish are
all gone.
Her faith in Christ Jesus won that
fight that she fought, guaranteeing the relief and alleviation of the physical
and spiritual ills she had encountered in this life.
Her perseverance, throughout that
fight continues to be an inspiration to me, continues to shed a different light
on all others with which I come into contact.
Difficult as it may be, and it often
is, there is a need to see the pain of others about us, loved ones, and all
others as well, and realize the effects that pain has on them, and attempt in
some way to show them the remedy for that pain is not to be found without first
seeking Christ Jesus, through Whom all things are possible, in Whom all answers
are given to all truly seeking solution to the various forms of pain that
attack each of us daily.
Without having sought and found
redemption through repentance, heeding the warnings given, accepting the
promise given, the only thing left remaining is the pain and despair that must
remain constant unless help offered is accepted, and relief truly sought.
Those who accept that promise have
the expectation and certainty that is established only through what was done
for us by Christ Jesus, Whose understanding is beyond any pain we may ever experience,
Whose love is extended for an eternity that is free from all pain, all
suffering, all despair, and all privation that may occur during the journey we
must make, and Whose resurrection guarantees our arrival at that destination where
:
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there
shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any
more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Amen and Amen
