For I know that my Redeemer Liveth...the Wayfarer 2/13 /16

For I know that my Redeemer Liveth 2/13 /16 “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me? Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.” (Job 19:25-29) Job, in all the patience for which he is still noted to have had, bemoaned the fact that condemnation without comprehension was constantly given by his friends, and even his family. The test endured by him was excruciatingly painful, both physically and spiritually as his friends turned on him, his family, what was left of it, harangued him to simply curse God and die. Yet he held on. Yet he maintained the f

Shall He find Faith?...the Wayfarer 6/15/14

Shall He find Faith?   6/15/14 “I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8) As I went about my daily chores and tasks that consume so much of the time spent for the week, once more putting in the required time to maintain the rather large area I try to keep mowed and neat, as usual I found time for reflection on the world in which I live, and the folks with whom I come into contact with regularly as well as the constant onslaught of the news delivered through means of the morning news shows and headlines that fill the airwaves and other media I turn to for information. I reflected on messages heard in the past few weeks in churches attended, and in revivals attended, and those giving them, and those receiving them. Having been blessed with having heard several men of God, and particularly blessed by hearing the Gospel preached by them in those places, the final por

This Day...the Wayfarer 6/12 14

This Day 6/12 14 “”And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” (Luke 4:21) The gospel of Christ Jesus is often ignored as being only pie in the sky thinking that inhibits the believer’s ability to see the productiveness of a grand plan instituted by men for men with the goals of more of all this world may offer, particularly for those making and touting those plans. It is declared old thinking that has no application to the lives of those now living, and would not be accepted by those who think there is time for eternity only in eternity, that there is plenty of time to rest and dream after death, spending each moment pushing through each day in search of further wealth and enjoyment of that wealth. All Christ’s teachings, all the sacrifice given by him both in life and in his death on the cross are counted to be   a waste of time in anticipation of some future time when the Judgment of God is given on an earth living only i

Let your Soul Delight Itself...The Wayfarer 6/21/14

Let your Soul Delight Itself   6/21/14 “Ho, everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy wine and milk without money and without price.   Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.” (Isaiah 55:1&2) Thirst and hunger are things that may be understood by almost all. It is a rare man who has experienced the deep cravings of these two bodily warnings that come with the need for nourishment to continue the life of that body. Perhaps, there may be some rare medical condition that allows some to experience a lack of these manifestations that are a part of what is passed to us through the wisdom of our very genetic make-up… If so I have never met any of them, but am unqualified to state that they do not exist. Much of life is spent in effort to assuage these two

“Doth Wisdom not Cry?”...the Wayfarer 4/27/14

“Doth Wisdom not Cry?” 4/27/14 “Doth wisdom not cry? And understanding put forth her voice?” (Proverbs 8:1) Today we go back to Proverbs, and to a subject that needs attention by all in this world in which we live, no matter the situation in which we find ourselves. Wisdom is needed in all situations in life, both in the joys of that life, and in the grief that must also inevitably be faced by each of us throughout that life. This 8 th chapter of proverbs gives a little of the insight needed to attain some of that wisdom, and I go also again to the 8 th chapter to clarify just where that wisdom may be derived. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10) Much of the book of Proverbs is devoted to the search for, and content of, that wisdom given to mankind through the many years since Adam and Eve first forsook the complete care and wisdom given them by God and chose instead
